Comparative statistical studies on the numbers attributable to each of these "killers" would make rather interesting reading don't you think?... got any handy? :O)

Sad yes, but why would they be using loaded guns? Common sense would say to make sure there was no ammo in them. |

Unfortunately, common sense isn't very common. |

Sometimes that is a great policy - however, my home defense weapon is always loaded, cocked and ready to fire once the safety has been disengaged. After all, an unloaded gun is almost as effective as a rock or baseball bat..

But a rock or a baseball bat are highly unlikely to ever accidentally kill anyone.
sorry.... didnt mean to hijack this as an anti-gun rant. |
But you did it anyway, didn't you?

Yeah... I did.
And, I did mention accidentally, not irresponsibly. |

I was just reading today about two teens who were pitching baseball and got hit with line drives off of metal bats. They nearly died, and have had to undergo a great deal of surgery and grueling physical therapy and will likely never fully recover. Their accident is hardly unique. |

That story is tragic. That there was stupidity involved (as in many accidental deaths) is obvious, but it is still tragic. |

I would imagine that was quite horrible for the entire wedding party, more-so for the Groom/Bride/Victims... |

Except, you can't cock a gun if the safety is on....it's a fail safe system. If your weapon is cocked, then you either don't have the safety on, or you don't have a safety at all.....which means you are setting yourself up as the next victim of natural selection....I'd go make sure that your gun isn't cocked!

um...isn't that backwards....you can shoot yourself while you are checking to see if it's loaded. You should check to see if the safety is on before checking to see if it is loaded. |

Nevermind...according to your picture you are a soldier...they actually teach you to clear your rifle before putting the safety on. |

I can see you know very little about firearms. I would advise you to offer advice in a subject that you are informed about.
