While going through the challenge archives, I came across one from 2005 that looked kind of fun - 4:00-5:00 AM
The original challenge was Basic Editing - and many of the shots were fabulous.

I know I'm one of those who like to see new ideas (not that I've participated in a recent challenge) but it looked like a fun one. So, I would like to suggest that we bring the challenge back (can even change the time) and give it another go around.

What do you think?

I thought it was a Great challenge. You need to research threads about it....lol. I think it was the Blue ribbon that caused some issues....Lol.

Found the thread, and all I can say is OMG. So, two of the top three didn't follow the "challenge rules" and took their pics at some random times during the day. And one of the two went so far as to explain that it was ok because it "looked" like it was taken during the time frame.

Wow - maybe brining it back won't be such a good idea if it opens the door that wide for participants to 'cheat.'

Unless it's part of the challenge RULES, that's okay. DNMC's are not DQ-able offences.

True. It just seemed to cause a huge uproar on the thread - I'd just hate to see it repeated. But then again, the only reason why there was a thread, is because one of the winners started it by admiting what he did.

I'd like to see a challenge like this again, with the amended rules.

Hopefully it will be an upcoming challenge.

Call me sick, but I think it will be fun to have to crawl out of bed and go out to capture a good picture. I know where I'd like to go, so I'll have to get up around 3:00 to make it out there and have enough time to take the shoots.

Crawl out of bed, or stay up really late the night before :)

Thanks... The Tourist ....I was at work, couldn't look them up. NO rules were broken in that challenge. But the spirit of challenge was in question. It was pretty heated, had almost for gotten about it.....Lol.

I think this would be an interesting challenge but put it in the rules that it has to be taken at the specified time. That information is verifiable through exif data, so validation would have to be met for ribboners/high placegetters. I think that creative 'outside-the-box' photography is one thing, thumbing your nose at the challenge description completely, when most people are trying to comply is another altogether.

Yes, just because it's DNMC doesn't mean that people cheated!!!!!!!! Goodness!

And what's to stop people from setting their cameras to the specified time no matter when they took it? This would be hard to make into a rule.

Then I really don't think it would be worth doing. It would be like that challenge 47 Steps, when some people thought it was okay to just drive to some picturesque spot.

Why wasn't #3 DQed? What was the reason for that?

Thumbs down for this challenge suggestion if rules are not going to be respected.

No matter the situation in life, there will always be a few who try to bend the rules in their favor. If someone resets the time on their camera - well I hope they forget to set it back and get disqualified in a future challenge. :)

No challenge ever got me as upset as that one did. Blatent cheating. At best, blatent taking advantage of a poorly thought out challenge posting.
