They messaged me back and offered a full refund +$5. They claim that it was an honest error posting this on the product page for the Westscott product. They sure do seem eager to remove all the negative feedback. Methinks they doth protest too much.

They must *really* want me to remove my negative feedback -- they offered me an extra $10 payoff. ;)

Not taking the payoff, not removing feedback, but happy to get my refund finally. Amazon closed their investigation since the seller refunded the transaction, and they (amazon) didn't comment on my recommendation to cancel the seller's marketplace account. BBB compliant is still in the red-tape process.

actually, that payoff + your refund would come close to paying for your getting the westcott product at the current price advertised...

after reading through all their other reviews and my dealing with them on this, i get the feeling it was an honest mistake and they are doing everything they can to make up for it.

Wow! Some of you are pretty harsh. I believe it was an honest mistake also after reading all the feedback and my own experience. Considering the price I paid for the product I received it is not bad and is useful. They did offer to refund 1/2 my money and keep the item or I could return the item for a full refund. I accepted a refund of half and kept the item which I think is more than fair. All without threats of "bad" feedback. I think I will likely give them good feedback for how they handled the mess up.

Feedback exists for a purpose. Even if it were an unintentional mistake, what if a vendor has poor employee training or internal quality control procedures? I would want to know if a vendor had such problems routinely. Poor feedback does not always mean they ripped you off. It's still fair IMO, and if it really is a one-time instance, then that feedback will not impact them much.

i agree with you to a point, but only up to the point that the vendor is not resolving issues. i would but more weight on a review that says, "they majorly screwed up my order, but they bent over backwards to rectify the situation, and in the end they came through." than a review that says, "they tried to rip me off with a bait-and-switch..avoid them at all costs!" when that second review is the only one like it out of thousands. ah, but to each their own...

I got the same incorrect item, posted feedback, and within an hour had an email from them. They said their product was erroneously posted on the Westcott page for 12 hours (and this makes some sense, since they have two other reflector pages up at amazon that I saw at the time: unbranded smaller reflectors for similar prices).

So, I agree with Skip. I don't think it was an intentional bait/switch, just an error--one which they take seriously, are actively seeking to fix for those of us who were affected, and willing to do so rapidly. That is the mark of a supplier who stands by their product and their customers, responds quickly and effectively to resolve any issues. I won't have any problem updating my feedback.

I will reconsider my feedback. However, it would have come off as more genuine if they had simply been wanting to correct the situation for the sake of doing the right thing rather than in exchange for removing the feedback.

It seems like someone is clearing out these things--wonder if the next big thing is 6 in 1 reflectors? :-)))))

I ordered from one of these two links and received the item as describe. No problems whatsoever. However I did order mine a few days after the thread began, the price had risen to $9.99. It seems the mistake has been fixed?

Yes--the problem was with the OP linked page: the smaller reflector also was linked to a large Westcott reflector at amazon by mistake leading to some of us not getting what we expected

Got mine today. Was promised to deliver Aug. 5-13. OK. Checked my actual order on Amazon to see what exactly they were telling me I was getting for $8.99. Neewer 5-in-1 w/bag plus shipping. $13.00 and change. Ok. 43" 5-in-1 Reflector (110 cm) was advertised and ordered. MIne measures just a touch under 41".

If it's like many things of late, the company orders something a certain size. Contract written, only to find out after the fact that the supplier is shaving to save cost and make more $$$. Not intentional by the seller, but intentional by the factory. Saves them a fortune. So, even the seller can get gypped in this type of case. (I work for a retailer and we get very peeved when we find out a factory does this and hell usually ensues, lol.) The seller pays for the 43" item and then the distributor ships what they think is the correct item. Regardless, still not right. Need to better manage their business!!!!

Anyway...it is frustrating that we THINK we are getting something and don't.

For $13, I'm not totally upset, but would have appreciated getting what was advertised!

I guess my question would be did you write to them before giving feedback so that they had a chance to resolve the problem? That is what I did and they offered to take a return and pay shipping or I could keep the product and they would give me $6 for the mistake. So in my case I think they owned up to the mistake and wanted to resolve it so I'll be giving decent feedback. I agree that after you left bad feedback it does not look good to try and "buy" your removing it but I hope you tried to give them a chance for remedy before the bad feedback was given. Anyway, just my opinion.
