I know the choice sounds obvious, but hear me out. I can either get a 50D used for $700 for the body, or the 40D + sigma 10-20mm + canon 25-105mm for $800. Im just wondering if the 40D is enough of a step up from my 350D to make it worth while. In 8x10 prints for instance, would i really notice the 5mp increase of the 50D?

Go with the 40d and lenses I would say.

Just had a 30"X40" print from the 40D, looked great even close up. If you want/need the additional lenses I would say go with the 40. I upgraded a long time ago from the 300D to the 20D and that was a great leap in quality. I currently have the 40 and will be getting the 7D soon which I hope will a great leap also. Also have the use of a T2 and it does a great job.

It is not that obvious, true. Just make sure you check out your 40D for total shutter actuations. And then Google the 40D forums. Personally I had a terrible experience with my 40D in that I had to replace the whole mirror box after just 12,000 actuations. And I had to pay because it was out of TIME guarantee. On Google=ing for the reason I found that the 40D had more than its fair share of issues. I personally would think this issue over and over again.

I think Ill go with the 40D, even if it breaks, the 2 lenses are worth it. I was gunna get them anyways :P

Smart move. 40D purchase is a lot better then 50D... a tank... power that I also am looking for (one day, when I get enough $$)

Congrats

For only an extra $100, I would say definitely the 40D. You are getting a slightly older camera, but that's a good deal on the glass. I have the 50D and the 15Mp is usually overkill.
