Does anyone make videos, in the same way you photograph? That is, does your photographic style find its way into video production?
I've been doing it for a couple of years, but because of music issues haven't uploaded anything. I've found opsound.org, which publishes open source music, so I can freely publish the videos I make.
Here's one I just finished.
If anyone makes videos in their style of photography, I'd love to see them. |

I hope you are quite happy with yourself... :O)
I watched it and now will have to go back to try and find out exactly what is written on the piece of paper taped to the sign, and wonder what happened to the poor soul that lost his/her shoes.
Good job Louis... I truly expected something to jump out of the bush at me and now I have many unanswered questions to look at.

I found several parts very intriguing... The mystery here is well done. |

Hey I watched the video and found it very experimental. Being a filmmaker myself, I believe there is a difference between photography and filmmaking. In terms of cinematography, I think photography and film are the most similar. If you wanted to explore a subject/theme, both can be found in photographs and videos, but looking at them both creates different moods for me.
This is what I think. I believe film is much more powerful than photography any day. A picture is only one frame, but a video is twenty four framers per second! There's a lot more flexibility on how you can send across your message/story.
I noticed the camera was shaky at some parts, so I thought you might enjoy this link... DIY Steadicam I made one recently and it only cost me 20 bucks CAD!

I think the media are different. Depending on how it's used, I think film can be much more evocative than photography, but I also think one can spend much more time with a photo than with a piece of film. One might pack a more visceral punch, but the other might make you consider its message more carefully.

Some might consider the camera shake a feature of that film. ;-) I didn't use my D300s for it -- I shot it with a cheap Kodak PlaySport. But I will definitely build one of those! Very cool. Thanks for the link. |

Hum, I just realized something... I have a Gitzo G1227 tripod with a G1276M off-centre ball head... pretty much this setup here. The legs can be brought out at a ninety degree angle from the post. Doing so will give me the exact same steadicam as shown in the link! The centre hook at the bottom of the reversible post can take a weight (that's what it's for), so I can easily add any kind of counter-balance. Since it's a universally rotating head, I also have a virtual U-bracket, so I can turn it upside down for from-the-ground shots.
Wow. I have a steadicam setup and didn't know it. Thanks again for the link man! :D

No prob! I had a 10 dollar tripod without any weights at the bottom and it was still decent... I just decided to build the one shown in the link for better smoothness.
Glad you benefited!
