Good! I like! One thing I would try, crop in on the right and left so there is not as much empty space, sharpen it up in photoshop, and that could be a ribbon winner! :D

Excelent shot, well done! A tighter crop may help and maybe the eyes need sharpening more.
Edit to add: I asked the question before about image quality on this site and was told that it is optimised for 800 max, over that the image quality will degrade a little.

Young owls always look wonderful - my only issue here is the crop - a little to central, and a little too much background so he is just sitting in his enclosure.
If you brought it in tighter and moved him off centre it would throw more attnetion on the main subject. |

First of all you need to fix the link, second of all, the photo on Flickr looks WAY sharper, and would probably get an 8 from me. I still stand my my point though that the empty space to the left and right is unneeded unless you're going to put something else in the photo.

I agree 100%, the crop is a problem, and you will get voted WAY down for it. If you like it, that's great, just don't expect to get high votes.

Yes. What this means is that the image "container" is set to 800x800. If your image is larger than that, the image will be "squished" in to that space, and depending on the browser you use, it can look horrible (looking at YOU, IE users...). If you do upload an image larger than 800 on either side (or both, for that matter), there will be a link on the image page to "View full-sized image", where it will break free of the page constraints.
Hope that helps.
