That was what I was talking about. My D70s/D200 files are all designated in a style like this: DSC_3211. When I retrieved the files, they came back sequentially numbered instead of with the DSC_ designation. Judy ran into the same issue trying to get her original back for her Deer Point Conspiracy image. There was something funny about the way the retrieval software names the files, I believe. At least that's what happened with the ones I did. They were from my Honduras trip, though, and I was just thrilled and relieved to recover them at all.
Good luck! |
The recovery software is reading every block on the card and following the pointers to the next block and reassembling what it can.
If there is no filename information, the software has to name the files somehow. It's not going to know what convention the camera used.

Yes, I saw the blocks you refer to when I was messing around with ZAR. Sadly most of the rescued files were just too corrupted to use so am using material I shot today. Good to know this stuff though. Thanks for the info! |

Ouch!
That's a shame, Susan. Other than the file designations being changed, the images I rescued were fine. I only lost about a dozen out of the 800 that were on the card, so I was very happy.
Glad you got a reshoot, I'd have had to reeeeeeeeally far for mine!
