With my having put #5 image onto my profile page that is yet another abandoned, dilapidated, ratty, old place, I guess I can safely figure that I'm just destined to be the guy with the penchant for that area of interest.

It's funny, 'cause it actually took Steve Yo_Spiff to point it out to me about a year and a half or so ago before I even realized it. With the advent of having purchased Topaz adjust that took a bunch of the extra steps needed to achieve the look, textures, and light arrangement, it's become what I prefer to do more than anything. I'm even becoming known here in my local area for this specific type of photography.

What this is leading around to is that I feel it's because of the knowledge, experience, guidance, and encouragement that I've gotten here at DPC that has allowed me to not only develop my skills, but to define them as they need to be for what viscerally motivates me as subject material. I realized that what I see in my mind's eye when I look at an old building certainly isn't very often exactly what's there, but that I can bring that vision to life with the skills and techniques that I've learned, and the best part of it is that I've been developing it, getting better at producing what I see, and how I want the image to materialize at the same time that I learn. I am actually able to shoot for what I want......and get it.

How cool is that? Thanks!

Excellent Jeb. I've seen that as your niche for sometime as well. (well, that and boots, but they're pretty much the same :) )..

You work has provided several inspirations for me.. Thanks again Jeb..

Nice.
Somebody commented on my images saying they reckoned mine was hands. I think it's a bit early yet for me.

You should photograph my workshop sometime. It's got some really old equipment.

I thought it was pretty cool that I was able to pick your entry out of the chaos challenge based only on subject and style. (I also picked Wendy's out of one of the ones in voting right now) I think we have similar styles with the rusty crusty stuff, though I also think there are also some noticeable differences. Still, I have had some entries mistakes for Jeb shots and I always take that as a compliment.

I think we need to coin a term to describe this genre. I'm calling it "Jebbish".

Thanks, people......it's been an absolutely wonderful experience being here the last four years. I really have to get around to pasting the usernames onto my profile page from all the GTGs I've been to as well. I'm astonished at how many of my DPC family I've met.

I just wanted to say that your words are encouraging and nice to read! Thanks for sharing it with everyone. Hopefully we all will find our "style".
