I am out of commission and distressed!
Today I tried to switch lenses, but it seems as my 75-300 lens hopelessly stuck on the body of my 2 year old canon. There's a little wiggle, but not much else happening.
The lens release button seems to not be depressing all the way and I'm not even sure it comes all the way up either. When I turn the camera on it works, but the autofocus on the lens does not.
After several phone calls to fairly unhelpful camera stores (even my regular haunt just said "gotta send it to canon") I'm kind of at a loss for what it could be or how to fix it.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions! |

Whatever you do, don't force it. I had a stuck lens after I repaired my 50mm that had come apart. I fixed the lens, but did not notice the back cover that faces the lens contacts was loose. It got caught behind one of the lens contacts and when I forced it off, it broke the lens contact.
Since your button is not depressing, that suggests to me that some other mechanical part may be failed. Not sure what, however. Does the button depress and just not release the lens, or is the button actually stuck and does not even depress? Re-read your post.

I think you already got the best answer from your local camera store....send it in to Canon.

The guys at the Saneal on 11th St have been great...that's where the owner of the store usually hangs out...
But I'm devastated at the thought of sending my baby away... |
