Here's a dumb question, how long have we had this "view full size" option? |

Forever... Any image over 800 pixels is shown at 800 pixels, with that link to the original.

Robt - please enlighten me to what this 1x Reject Club is all about. I could go back to the very first post by OP but I am not that ambitious. |

OK, now I know what you're talking about. I tried to get accepted there, but alas, they rejected me, and more than 1x |

Well I built up the nerve to face the rejection without feeling it personally and won. I was rejected and feel fine :) I did get two wonderful critiques which I requested from two people I feel give in-depth and honest feed back that isn't honey coated. Ursula and Louis. I am going to post them on the photo as some might not want a long post in this thread. I think their feedback could be applied to more than just my photo and are useful in learning. I see the flaws now that they were pointed out to me .. but I so love this photo and it touches some part of me - I did what is not a good idea, I fell in love with my shot :)
Here it is;

I suppose it probably looked too accidental or something. The direction it took to get to this point was serendipitous, but the end result was definitely intentional. Or maybe it's just weird enough to please no one but me. |

Melethia, It is such a wonderful image that I know if it didn't get accepted, none of mine will. Here is my latest reject
- there is another one too but I am thinking of putting it in the free study .. might as well get bad scores there too .. any feedback on my egret is appreciated. I call her the nurturing egret because she reminds me of chickens and geese who gather, under their wings, the babies if they sense danger.

Just my opinion...
...but after 6 weeks or so of looking over the 1x photos and photographers and then seeing some items on here that were rejected I feel...
That once you get going on that site (of course you have to be good) it seems a little easier to get stuff accepted. I wish there was a way to test it. I've seen photos of your style below make it...however, the photographers that enter this kind of stuff have many other accepted images. IMO if you gave this image to the top 5 "abstract" photographers on that site (in a blind test of course), it would be published.
I see many photos of backlit, folded paper and stuff like that published weekly, however, it is usually by the same photographers.
I guess in short I'm saying, it is tough to crack 1x but if you crack it and keep with your style, and the "administrators" take a liking to you/your style you will be published many times over.
Please don't post that I'm wrong because "I have one or two photos accepted and my next 10 were rejected". I'm sure there are many stories like that. I'm talking about photogs that have 10 or many more published.
I'm sure I'll be reamed up the Wazo for suggesting this but it is what I see.

I think there is some truth in that. It's the same thing that goes on here in voting. After seeing the same type of thing on the front page week after week you do one of two things. You either accept what you see on the front page as the "authority" of what is good and you look for that in the challenges or you rebel against it and reward what is different. The more popular thing to do is to just go with the flow and I think that's what happens at 1x as well.

Right now (as I post) there are about 7 images on their front page that are not ordinary or typical of anything so, I'm not sure I'd agree fully but keep in mind they are also limited to what comes their way.

I'm glad that got in. It's a stunning photograph and deserves as wide an audience as possible.
Still no luck with any of my submissions although i haven't tried in a few weeks. Might try a few more this week though. |

Ok, this is a question about navigation on 1x.
HOW DO YOU DO IT?
Easy example. Go to the main page; featured pic shows up, as well as thumbs below.
Then I click on the featured pic so it gets big.
HOW DO I GET BACK TO THE MAIN PAGE?!?!?!
I seriously cannot figure out how to do it. |
