Thank you so much. I had a blast shooting this and learned quite a bit from it. I re edited the filled frame headshots and softened the skin a bit due to a suggestion and man that really just brought the quality up a notch.

Hello fellow suckies.
I̢۪m still in Moab, and today enjoying my first day off in 3 weeks. Makes for great paychecks, but being 5 hours away from home sucks. My wife is coming to visit next weekend so I have something to look forward to.
The area is beautiful and well worth a visit, although I suggest in the off season maybe mid to late fall to early spring, it gets very hot in the summer, and there are lots of folks visiting.
Not much more to add work- eat- sleep make Alan a dull boy.

Happy fathers day guys..

Is there anybody.... out there?

Hello?
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone home?
Come on, Come on, Come on, now,
I hear you're feeling down.
Well, I can ease your pain
Get you on your feet again.
Relax.
I'll need some information first.
Just the basic facts.
Can you show me where it hurts?

There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.
When I was a child I had a FEVER My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain, you would not understand
This is not how I am.

I have become comfortably numb.

O.K.
Just a little pin prick.
There'll be no more aaaaaaaaah!
But you may feel a little sick.
Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working, good.
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on it's time to go.

There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.
When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown,
The dream is gone.
but I have become comfortably numb.

Odd idea - is there a toll free hotline or 24 hour emergency vet number you could call?

Deb, it's not a bad idea at all. We do have one but they want $150.00 from you just to talk about your pet on the phone, and then they tell you to bring it in and you have to pay

their weekend/after hour rates so by the time it's all said and done I would have to fork out somewhere in the neighborhood of $1200.00. Now please don't get me wrong I do

love my bird and I don't want her to die. She is only about 15 and should have another 15-20 in her but I did rescue here from another family and I got her for free. I will do all

I can but with all pets you have to know when to say enough and I'm afraid I'll not be able to do that because she's so sweet and I want her to get well. We have so many other

things that the money needs to go to so I'm stuck in limbo until I hear from our bird friend. So until then I sit and hold her and keep her close to my heart.

Strange the things we love isn't it?

Have you tried googling her symptoms and seeing what some of the solutions could be?
06/26/2010 06:18:30 PM · #738
Gah - that's horrible about the price. I can see charging a small fee for a telephone consult, but not THAT much! They do gouge us for our pets, though, because they know that we'll pay. Best of luck to you, Max. Keeping fingers crossed.

Been a birdy weekend here, too. I rented an f4.5 80-400 VR lens from Vistek for the weekend and yesterday picked it up then went and shot with Ryan at Dow's Lake and out in Kanata. Got some decent shots, the best ones were of Canada Geese waddling/swimming about, but OMFG what a slow lens! I knew it would be, but still didn't expect it to be as slow as it was, or hunt around as much as it did.

That's why we were looking forward to today. Ryan just bought the 400mm Canon lens and I rented the 80-400 so we could go birding or rather heroning together. Borrowed a friend's canoe, already had permission from the property owner, so hit up a heron rookery we have shot before, but that was 3 months ago. Let's just say the water level is a teeny bit lower, there was no duckweed or waterlilies, the reeds/bulrushes a lot higher, a lot more portaging, and after a couple good soakers in swamp goo, a helluva lot more swearing from me. (Ryan, on the other hand, took his soakers in sturdy silence, like a man).

Anyway, after about an hour or more of fighting our way through low-water, choked-up channels of water that had been clear (or more accessible) before, and we decided enough was enough. We turned around and went back, but good some decent shots of angry red-winged blackbirds!

Returned the canoe, came home, dried out and though a little disappointed that we didn't get in and shoot the herons and all their half-grown babies, well, at least we didn't end up hurt, the equipment all survived nicely, and we still had a venture. That's what matters!

Sounds like some good memories were made there snaffles Hope to see some (of the few) bird shots you were able to get.

Oh yes, we always have fun, even if doesn't seem like much fun at the time :-) I plan to ask the property owner if it's OK for me to blaze a trail in there (buddy with a canoe also has a kayak, though I wouldn't go in with gear this time). Up to a certain point there's nice wide channels, but as they get narrower and more overgrown with shrubberies and whatnot, well, that's when the fun starts! But we both have long fuses so we don't blow up at each other, just grin and bear it.

It is with a heavy heart that I report to you that my beautiful companion Winni has passed. She was looking like she was going to recover last night and she even started to

eat and drink again. I heard from my friend Pam and followed her her instructions for examining her and to all accounts Winni looked to have contracted a virus and was well

on her way to a full recovery we would know in the morning (today) if that was the case.

When I woke this morning the very first thing I did was to check on her still eating and drinking and talking to me I headed to the shower and started my day. Now dressed

and ready to head out for our usual Sunday when Winni beckoned me to her, opening the cage to pet her she was hell bent that she was coming out to be with me and no

matter what I did she was not taking no for an answer. Climbing into my hands and then onto my shoulder she scouted the room and then she started to make some funny

sounds the likes that I've not ever heard from her so I collected her off my shoulder and held her in my hands, she looked to me and made another weird noise then had a

stroke and died in my hands. With the family all around and the tears flowing we said our goodbyes, I went and changed w found a new towel and wrapped her up and

placed her into really nice photo box and we buried her in our backyard.

It's strange how we are affected so heavily in our hearts by our pets and how sometimes we think that their passing would not "really" affect us until it happens in your

hands. I truly believe that Winni somehow knew and she wanted to be with me no matter what in the end. I loved her with all my heart and will miss her always and I now

carry a little yellow feather with me in my wallet. Unconditional love from our pets has a wonderful way of keeping some balance in our lives. Love your pets because yo

know that they love you.

Rest in peace, Winni. We love you.

Thank you all for your well wishes.

MAX!, Janet-Lynne, Caleb, and Isaac.

Max, I am so sorry to hear of Winni's passing. But yes, she wanted to be with you when she went, in the best place possible. Our most sincere condolences, Susan, Druli and Lily

Oh Max!! I am so sorry! When I was 13, my parents bought me a parakeet. I thought it was the dumbest gift. We kept the cage downstairs, and we all ended up talking/working with the parakeet (I named him Rover). I had absolutely no idea how sweet, intelligent, friendly, and loving a bird could be. I loved him dearly.

How wonderful that she was able to be with you when she passed. That must have helped her greatly.
