Not sure how to get it to delete. You may need to find something to pause it first. If a file is too big to email, I use YouSendIt. There are many similar free services.

I have a dropbox account (www.dropbox.com). I also have it set up on all of my computers and on my iphone & ipad. It's not just a service to send files to someone but a virtual place to keep your own files and access them from anywhere (including photos).

What version of Outlook do you have?

even though you have it solved i thought id add that i use:

dropbox, mediafire, and yousendit all for different purposes.

yousendit is for smaller files (<50mb) it seems to handle those best that i need delivered right away

dropbox is for my own personal files which i need to be able to access from many computers as well as storage of frequently accessed files such as a portfolio sampler that i can send to people. this is because it seems to have slower upload times despite the AWESOME user interface and scope of the program.

mediafire is my go-to for LARGE files that need immediate delivery. (>50mb usually) unlike dropbox and yousendit it does not have a software uploader and sender but rather is done entirely on the internet through their site. therefore it is often the least convenient BUT tends to have the fastest upload times and most consistent performance.

also for future reference, check with your isp to see what there megabyte limit is on email attachments. For me, Comcast is 12meg I believe. Anything bigger hangs in the outbox in outlook as you described.
