I've been asked to do a toddler shoot (~2-5yo) at a saturday toddler group fair in a few weeks and wondered the best solution for the backdrop. I already have a backdrop stand and a white material backdrop but I was wondering about the floor .... would a better solution be a paper roll? What do other people do for young kid shoots?

When I used do toddlers I use sheets or a rug to match the background on the floor. I find that they are more durable and toddlers will give a more natural pose if they like the feel of the fabric (IMHO)

Are they full length shots? If so, and your flooring is solid (tile/hardwood) paper would be a cheaper and more inexpensive way to go then a full (10x20) backdrop. Try to get it as wide as possible - little one's are on the move and you don't want "the shot" to be with half the bg behind them.

probably going to be a mix of full length and some close ups. I think I'll get a paper roll as the floor is solid wood I believe .... a rug sounds like a good idea too .... I've been asked to do it by my sister in law and she is going to bring a selection of toys too :)
