Heya, I just finished designing my own website. I'm not a pro so don't be too critical. It was made with Softpress Freeway. Not the easiest thing to do, but I got it after about 2 weeks of frustration. Check it out:
//www.sparksofingenuity.com/
I'm looking for spelling errors, graphical errors, things that just don't look right, things you don't think fit with the rest of the layout, etc.
Thanks in advance!
ETA: Updates are a few posts down
¡¡¡¡¡¡¡NEED FEEDBACK ON NEW SITE LAYOUT!!!!!!!

It's a personal peeve, but I hate websites that have an 'enter' page. I just don't understand the point of them.
Nice looking site!

Yep....lose the splash page.
The BG is kinda busy too. |

I also dont like the splash page.
and I find the blue buttons with white writing very hard on the eyes.
The main page and the my gallery page has several typos - it wont let me copy/paste to show you.
Personally I do not think you should ask customers "not to order larger prints" (main page) sounds unprofessional

1. Yeah, after all the comments, it's going away next update.
2. I agree, would it help if I de-saturated the blue so they matched the color of the background?
3. I'll check it out, a bunch of people have emailed about typos.
4. Like I said, beta version, it's not really publicized yet. You guys are by beta testers. When beta version is done with, all the snickery comments about "beta site" and "don't order large prints" will be gone.

On the "My Gallery" page it should be "gratefully", not "greatfully". Also, "through" instead of "throgh". There are more on the first page but I neglected to write them down.

yeah...lots of spelling mistakes. Easily checked and fixed. Visually its pretty nice but you definitely need to run your content through a spell checker. Those mistakes are not what you want the viewer to be noticing.
That aside, when going into your gallery you click on black and white or color which works (like the mouse over which changed the image from black and white to color and vice versa). But I don't understand the need for the additional click to actually get into the gallery. |

Perhaps this is going away when you get past the beta phase, "Only a small fraction of my work is posted here due to file-hosting limitations, laziness and frustration with my website building program", but I completely lost interest after reading that line.

New Site Updated:
Additions:
1. Now using "Shadowbox" instead of Lightbox. SB looks nicer, holds more images, and works with protaculous libraries.
2. Compressed the entire site to ONE PAGE using a carousel. Idea from here.
3. Glossy menu-bar with rollovers on buttons
4. Added "Featured" tab for featured artists.
5. "Enter" splash page has been removed.
6. Improved for faster browsing and more user-friendly interface.
7. took out all the stuff about "beta"
8. Buffer space at the bottom of EVERY page for aesthetic appeal.
9. Higher res. images.
10. Images all converted to interlaced .png with millions of colors, set to "web-safe compatibility", will also revert to minimum colors on selective browsers.
11. Removed my crappy gallery of Digital Art
12. Fixed text links so they look right
Coming Soon:
1. Delicious Library has links to content, more content, and a "back to Sparks of Ingenuity" button.
2. Internal tutorials pages for photoshop, web design, mac customization, etc.
3. A forum for art discussion
4. A Form and page for "The Weekly Web"
5. A form for art submissions.
6. An internal form to Contact Me and Order Prints
7. A Profile and Account system
8. Put back up Color photo Gallery.
9. Find a use for accordions

Do the shadowboxes to display images, and the carousel to slide to the different tabs work for y'all? I'm asking mostly because I haven't tested the site in Internet Explorer. I don't use it, and nobody I know that uses a PC uses it. If you are an Internet Explorer user, tell me how it runs! :D

Still looking for feedback?
The font is not particularly appealing (at least in firefox or chrome). Not sure what it would look like in Windows, but in Linux it doesn't look good.
On the front page you say you will post updates, recent news, etc....
There are no updates or recent news.
Not sure when the last time the 'featured artist' was updated. It doesn't look like it actually happens weekly.
On the contact page, your e-mail address should be a link, not plain text.
It is unprofessional to ask potential clients to 'never call you'.
You should remove the "this section of the site" text from every page. I think it's implied that you're referring to the section of the site that you're in.

Photo Gallery page...
This section is dedicated to presenting my work in an appealing and organized way while delivering high-resolution images at the same time. All the displayed photography is mine, and the images are no larger then 960 pixels on either side. I have four different galleries at the moment, feel free to browse through each:
The "THEN" that I have highlighted above should be "THAN".
Also, I don't see any galleries listed on the page. I just see the image of the tractor.
Contact page....
Just leave your phone number off if you don't want anyone to call you. It doesn't sound professional the way you have it now. Same with the email stuff that you have.... just short and sweet would be better. Seems like you are shouting at your audience.
I would also suggest a seperate price page as it is confusing on the contact page.
I like the layout and the hard work you put in to all of it. Keep up the good work!
