I have:
Lenses: Tamron AF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 Aspherical for Canon
Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 LD for Canon
I need to get filters for them. The 70-300mm has a bigger end on it than the 28-80mm. I am not sure where or how to search for the right filters for them.
Help?

i do not like filters...
i've never put a filter on my lenses (expensive lenses, like 24-70 2.8, 80-200 2.8, 135 2 and so on...)
i pay attention during the use of my gear and i avoid adding glass, although is excellent i do not like it...
my two cents! ;-) |

the inside of the lens cap should say the thread size in mm, probably 58mm for the 28-80 and 62mm for the 70-300
then just choose the filter you want, I assume just a general purpose uv filter

If you have lenses with different thread sizes and want to use filters on more than one of them, the general recommendation is to buy for the largest thread size and then get adapter rings to accommodate smaller sizes. I followed this approach for my circular polarizer. Of course, the larger filters are more expensive, so that may be a practical limitation.
ETA: Obviously not useful if you're just looking for UV filters (as subsequent reading of other posts suggests you are).
