I am going to Montana in a few weeks and I was wondering... Should I rent glass for the trip? I am thinking some higher quality stuff for it. That being said I have the 18-55mm kit lens for my D40 and I also have my 55-200mm VR. Is there anything else I should get? Maybe the 60mm 2.8? or a wide angle like a fisheye for landscapes? Any thoughts??

Just my 2cents, not knowing what you like to shoot.... Sounds like a vacation trip, what you have should be fine as it covers a good range. You start carry more stuff, heavy stuff and taking pictures may become a chore and not enjoyable... Have a good time. (But this opinion is from a hobbyist...)

If the vacation is specifically for photography then renting might be an option. However, if the results you are getting with the equipment you own are acceptable to you then why rent better. Now, if you want a lens with more reach for wildlife then rent a long prime say 400mm.

Montana is a great place for a super wide, or fisheye. I was there a couple of years ago, about this time of year, and there are good photos everywhere. If you are in the parks, you can get pretty close to the animals, and probably would not find that a long telephoto would justify getting one just for the trip, and hauling it around the whole time.
Here is what Montana looked like to me in 08.

I dropped an 18-70 over a waterfall on the 3rd or 4th day, so I used my older manual lenses for the rest of the trip. If you go to Hungry Horse, be sure to check out the helicopter rides over the mountains, or the rafting there. Both are memorable side trips compared to the ordinary driving around stuff.
There is a wonderful "Ford" museum at Flathead, and a very interesting place called the "Miracle of America Museum" at Polson.

A friendly bump for the Aussie DPC'ers.
