Just wondering if anyone else here uses it. I currently use Version 3.

I'm thinking about upgrading to Version 4 and was wondering if anyone knew if it was good or not.

I heard a lot about it when it first came out (and I did try it), but it does not seem to be getting much publicity lately. Honestly, as good as the mainstream RAW converters are (in particular ACR and its equivalent, the RAW conversion engine in Lightroom) I don't see much point.

I'm so used to using it, and I do like it, so I thought I'd go with the upgrade. Plus I'm still using Photoshop 7. I know nothing about Lightroom too - and am not sure if I would need to upgrade Photoshop to use it?

That's a good reason. Yes, you'd need to upgrade Ps to use the converter, and upgrading from Ps 7.0 at this point would be very expensive. Lightroom is a fabulous tool for importing, organizing and "developing" images, *but* it is not a full-featured editor. You could, however, do all of your global changes in Lr (and some local ones as well), export to a non-RAW format and finish editing in Ps 7.
If you think the organization features of Lr are something you'd use, you can trial Lr for 30 days. I would *strongly* recommend that if you do so, first pick up a book on it, then load the trial, and really learn it from the bottom up. It is a great tool, but it is a little different, and can be a significant learning curve.

Thank you kirbic. I've seen LR and I agree, I'd need a book lol. It's hard when you get used to using one type of software that doesn't happen to be one of the popular ones. Oh well... anyway, I appreciate the input.
