Sucks doesn't it... I just got done shooting for the HDR challenge... 170+ Megs of RAW per final image...

yeah spending money to help a friend always sucks... especially when funds are low... but ill just do a month renewal here so that i have the extra to spend there... and then hopefully in july i can do the full year LOL robbing peter to pay paul...

Ha.. That sucks too, no doubt! But, the extra space will be useful if you do decide to shoot RAW..

yeah turns out that if i buy one face to face i pay 3xs what i would pay if I buy online... so yeah that aint happening... guess ill just have to shoot raw for the important stuff and shoot jpeg for the rest. **wish me luck** being broke sucks!!! damn insurance companies!

what should i set my apeture and iso too to start out with (i know how to adjust but I dont know where to start at)

Anything that works.

Keep these points in mind:

1) Set to the lowest ISO possible, for lowest noise. Outside = ISO 100 to start, inside = ISO 400.

1) Use aperture to set the mood: isolation, story-telling, etc. If you are not sure, set it to f/6.3 or f/8

2) Use the shutter speed to get the right amount of light. Remember that the lowest speed you can go to avoid camera shake is 1 / focal length. But you also need 1/100 absolute minimum to perfectly stop people from moving. You may go lower, depends on how far away you are, focal length, etc. Kids, set to 1/250 or faster.

3) If the shutter speed is too slow, bump up the ISO.

4) Experiment. Take a few test shots, adjust accordingly. Every situation is a little different. Don't be afraid to try a few things.

have a quick look here if you have time, good checklist there and loads of tips that may help you, wouldnt spend too long on there because it was an information overload when I went through it and may not be helpful in that respect! //www.all-things-photography.com/wedding-photography-tips.html

I use aperture priority mode (AV). In normal conditions and good light, I try to keep my aperture around f7.1 and keep an eye on shutter speed. (In this case I'd probably try to maintain a lower aperture to help blur the background) I like to keep it above 1/100. If it drops lower, I get more careful with holding the camera steady. I'll raise the ISO or open up the aperture more to maintain that shutter speed. In midday light you shouldn't have a problem.
