hmmm... that would mean that IreneM would have to give an average vote of 6.4...
What makes me curious is the people with voting averages less than 5.0 -- then the majority of people on the site are worse than average photographers. It's fine if they really think that, but I think I'd get bored with a site at which the majority of people suck.

Ohh, okay. I had all that figured out except for the part about the real-time updating. I didn't realize DPC had gone live with those statistics.

Oh, I know that. I was giving the 5.0-5.5 voters a break. You aren't a troll in my eyes in that range. Really the trolls are 4.5- voters. In that little sweep I found a 3.6 voter, but he wasn't voting. Real trolls have an average like 1.6. |

I did what you suggested and I also looked at the voters received averages and I realized that there is nothing wrong with the voters' votes, it is my entry that sucks! Back to the drawing board for me.

If you want to be a troll hunter, you go to community>who's online and open up the bottom 20 to 30 people in separate tabs. You can see what their average vote cast is and look to see who generally votes low (ie. avg below 5.0). If you hit F5, it updates in real time so if the vote average and # change, they are actively voting. Some samples of the total and average can easily figure out an average of what votes they are currently handing out.
It's not hard to do and I've found a few trolls that way. |

On my 10th entry here I scored a 7.29 and it did not ribbon. I have not been able to beat that score in over 100 challenges since. That was in Oct 2006! That is extremely frustrating. someday....maybe, although I think I am destined to have that photo at the top of my profile forever. |

The starting was joyous. I thought this would be a personal best for me.
then it went really lower. Now it has started climbing back. It is still not my PB yet.

Fortunately, I am not committed to keeping the nice even 30,000. I'll be perfectly happy with 30,001 on up.
