So. Enough voters really like the image to put it on the top of the pile. That does not discount the opinions of those who don't think it should be there and have voted low.

Actually, that's not my point.

It's relatively rare, in my experience, that the winning images are utterly lacking in soul. No, what I'm talking about is the counterpart of gratuitous low votes: gratuitous *high* votes.

I believe there are just as many unearned 10's being handed out as slap-in-your-face 1's. I don't, for the most part, have any serious quarrels with our ribboning images; sure, many of them are not what *I* would have chosen as best-of-challenge, but rarely do I think they are without significant merit.

So my point is, it's all part of the same experience, if you catch my drift? It will never change, everyone has his or her own viewpoint to express.
