So I wanted to set up a website and I got good sources because my brother has tons of server space so I got that free, plus he does marketing and is a GoDaddy reseller so all that was a no brainer. I reminded him I know NOTHING about websites and he says "don't worry, I'll put Wordpress on there, it's websites for dummies."
Well I must be certifiably braindead because I am having a horrible time stumbling though this. I have figured out a few things but mostly it sits dormant because I get frustrated. Anyone out here know of any good Wordpress tutorials that are "cheap as free"
Or anyone wanna be my Huckleberry? |

I set up Word Press for a friend. I had some inital problems, but got it up and running.
One thing I did, and I would suggest to you, is to register with their forums, and ask whatever questions you have as you go through the installation. It's an active community frequented by both Word Press staff and gurus.

My go to guy is Jmsetzler he helped me set mine up and helped me with setting up some add on stuff to keep it running smoothly with an idiots hand running the dials.............although I've been way too busy to even update my site for the past few months and need to get back at it.

all my sites are built on wordpress (www.skippix.biz & www.rmcphotos.com are a couple).
it might take a little to get used to, but once you're going it's really easy to maintain.
what in particular is throwing you? |

welcome to the wonderful world of open source software where the guidelines are only guidelines...
in your wordpress dashboard, click on 'appearance' to drop down the submenu. hopefully you'll find some sort of configuration tab for the theme. if not, open up the submenu for 'settings' and look for something related to the theme. my guess is that your homepage slider is part of the wootheme; if you don't find a configuration page inside the wordpress dashboard, your next step would be to contact wootheme tech support.
wordpress is a fantastic platform, pretty much limited by imagination and budget. you do have to be careful with what you pay for because you never know how long the vendors are going to be around. it's also very easy to get into nickle-and-dime situations where the right-out-of-the-box only does part of what you need. a lot of them really try to lure you in cheap for you only to find that they'll want to sock it to you to get what you really want. all the same, if you keep things relatively simple, you can build a really nice site without killing yourself or paying a friggin fortune.
let me know if you are still running into problems. |
