I agree, I`ve done the Eye and surrounding area enough, I wasn`t that impressed with Borough Market, not sure what else is around there other than, Tower of London, Southwark Cathedral, St.Pauls.
Some ideas
Greenwich
Docklands/Canary Wharf
Not sure what we are looking for.

The current issue of Amateur Photographer has it's "Mike Malloney Challenge " in Piccadilly Circus, although I'm not overly impressed with many of the photos. I do remember that they have "done" Greenwich in a previous issue, and that looked quite good. As it's spring already, perhaps we could include a park.

With Greenwich you have:
Thames
Park
Market
Cutty Sark
National Maritime Museum
Thames Barrier?
Royal Observatory

I'm not sure if I can come yet or not but I've been to the Greenwich area before and it has some great photo ops. Sounds like a good choice to me :)

Greenwich does sound good...
What are we looking for?
*Somewhere with a good option to meet for lunch (so sue me, I'm as interested in chatting over the meal as in taking pics together)
*Somewhere that interests all of us
*Somewhere that offers a range of photo opportunities
Greenwich fits so far!
Topping to make sure everyone has the date in their diary and inputs on where to meet...
Anyone else want to come along?

Apologies to those who don't give a shit, but we'll at least try and take some decent pics or something!

Well, if we're going to the maritime end of Greenwich, then I highly recommend the Spanish Galleon pub (100m from the Cutty Sark DLR and the Cutty itself) - good atmosphere, great (Shepherd Neame) beers, and reasonable food :o)

I'm working away from home in Nottingham from tomorrow to Wednesday night - shall we firm up where to meet?
We might need a reservation for somewhere for lunch?
HOW MANY ARE DEFINITE?
WHO IS A MAYBE?

Me and Rob are yeah, coz he can't make the Saturday, and I so wanted to meet him, but I thought it fairest to choose the date that most people put as definite, so I asked if he could meet me for lunch on Friday instead...
:o)
(He's coming into London anyway to collect his little girl)

I used to live in St Katharines docks London which I think would be a great place for you all to meet up - many people go to the tower and miss it. Superb buildings and boats. Plus it's right next to tower bridge so those that haven't shot it yet can do so.

Great big pub there called the Dickens Inn //www.pubs.com/dicke1.htm which would be good for food and beer.
Then you can have a very nice walk in Wapping (old cobbled streets and factory conversions) by the thames and into Canary Wharf, from there I think you can also get a boat to Greenwich.
On that walk there is a very old pub that may be good for a few snaps and a good excuse for another beer.
Just my thoughts - shame I don't live there anymore as it would be perfect. |
