Anyone have any experiences with this lens that they could share with me? I am looking at getting it to extend my reach for sports and wildlife photography. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Ronnie

I have the Sigma 150-500mm for nikon mount and it is an EXCELLENT lens for the money. Of course the lens can't match the dedicated telephotos.
Best used in reasonably good light where you can use apertures of at least F8. AF & OS performance is great , no problems here !! You can view samples of shots taken with the 150-500 in the lens section.

Thanks for the input. I was thinking about 150-500 but am worried about the low light performance vs the 120-400.

I have the 150-500f5 - I think the extra reach outways the benifit of 1/2 a stop.
Here are some shots I have taken with it Sigma 150-500 f5

You have some really nice images from that lens. How fast is the focusing? I want to use it for sports and wildlife. Just afraid the slower lens will focus slower when doing sports photography, especially during late evening and night games. I do agree the extra reach would be really nice.

Focus is pretty fast but I would not use it for sports shots in late evening/night etc, I think it would struggle there.

The guy that shoots sports at the local paper here has the 120-400 f2.8 and swears by it. But it's a beast, so make sure you're up to it before you buy.

Who makes a 120-400 f2.8?

My bad, I meant the Sigma 120-300 f2.8

Wish I had the money for that lens.
