As the title says, I tried to make a page of my website to transfer some tif files, but the files won't show up. Do tifs not act the same way as jpgs on the internet? How can I fix this?

TIF files will not show up in browsers, only JPG, PNG and GIF are commonly supported.
If you just want someone to be able to download them, instead of embedding the images with an tag, just create a hyperlink to directly to it. Then whoever clicks the link will be able to download it :)
So, Click here to download!

Hmm, I tried that and it still doesn't work. When I go to the tif's url, it says the page doesn't exist. |

I tried right clicking and save link as, but the file it saved was 1kb.
Are the TIF files definitely uploaded to the server?

It looks like they are up there. Took over 2 hours for them all to upload!
Is there maybe a delay between uploading something so big and the time that it can be viewed or something? |

I think you'll find you've created links to files that don't exist, as the file name is case sensitive - your files have a .TIF extension not .tif |

Wow, I think it works now! Thanks paynekj!
Can someone else test it just to make sure? Thanks! |

I never knew file extensions were case sensitive!

I don't think they are all case sensitive. I think it has something to do with the file type, the server and how you are accessing it. Whenever I am trying to access a file on my server and I get redirected to the home page (or a 404 error) I know that I need to change the file name.
Sometimes the browser automatically replaces all the capital letters with lower case letters and it works the same way but I don't think I was ever interested enough to test out why. Just pay attention to it sometimes and you'll see it also.
Anyway, I'm glad that your file works geinafets.

Unix based OS's (Linux etc) tend to be case sensitive while Windows based ones don't. I don't know if that translates over to web servers too, I guess it depends on the web server software. |
