Now that the voting fiasco is cooling off Iâd like to make an observation.

I too am one of the âsuspendedâ account holders who have since been exonerated. In all there were 30 of us that received that notice according to what SC posted. Some of those received quick word to what they were charged with and some did not. I was one that did not. I watched the thread, silently, in anticipation of an April Foolâs type answer. I posted my position in the thread, twelve hours after my initial email to SC, to let my frustrations be known as well. That thread went whipping off the page without a comment from anyone because people were more interested in defending popular members. The fact that 29 other people took a back seat to popularity is appalling. And we donât even know who 27 of those people areâ¦do those people not count? Is their contribution to this site not worthy of note? It doesnât matter. People have been too busy promoting and defending the popular to care about anything else. Those other people do count, even if they have made a small contribution by voting, submitting or just participated in a thread.

A grenade goes off in a room full of 30 people and only the popular get attended toâ¦really!

FWIW the majority of those 30 were "guilty as charged" and their suspensions are still in effect.

If it's any consolation to you...I have had a relatively happy life for 63, almost 64 years and the only group that writes to me on a regular basis is the Tax Department :O)

Feel better now?

Let's recap here......

Don started Team Suck, specifically to help those who felt unappreciated, ovberwhelmed, and maybe just a little differnt than the average DPCer, and it has flourished for a number of years under his guidance and tutelage to where it has garnered a level of respect and camaraderie appreciated by a great many, not to mention encouraged and helped many a DPCer grow and flourish in the community here.

He has written superlative tutorials, and often offered great wisdom on how to observe, vote, and appreciate photography as it's offered in challenges and to the world in general, and he's established his own slightly tongue-in-cheek, yet enormously popular and coveted side awards for those images that move and inspire him that have a tremendous following.

It's not that he's popular, which he is, it's that he's well known, and respected for his contributions both to the community, and to many, many members on a personal level that a hue and cry arose when it was discovered that he was being suspended for an infraction of the rules related to scoring, which, if you read the opener on the very first page of the Team Suck thread....

This thread belongs to Team Suck, a ragtag group of militia... um... photographers who compatriate more than compete, more interested in winging than winning, in love than lustre.

We don't let a low score get in the way of a dream!

As our seditious philosophy gained ground, our ranks grew, until we became more than just a team. We became a league of teams in wholesome if not entirely serious competition with each other. And that's the way we all became Team Suck.

This thread is for suckers to commiserate and compete. It can also be used for anyone with questions or comments about the Suck lifestyle. If you do wish to join us, we ask that you participate at DPC for a while to see if sucking really is your style, and we ask that you fulfill whatever half-brained initiation we come up with at that moment.

This current thread would be the 11th one. They get closed down generally when they hit 125 pages.....to date, approximately 22,600 posts by, for, and to Team Suck members.

Perhaps you could enlighten us as to why there shouldn't be public outcry from those of us who like, admire, and respect the ultimate dead guy.

So......who are you, and what have you done for the community that would give us a clue as to why we should all grab our torches and rally to your cause?

Kevin ( kleski),
I'm not keen on prolonging another thread on this subject, but I read your message with interest. I checked the original (locked) thread and saw that you made a number of posts, and that some of them were responded to directly (however satisfactorily or unsatisfactorily), while others were undoubtedly taken into account by those who followed the thread. It sounds like it took a long time for your ticket or whatever to get a response. It's probably true that the squeakier wheels got more interaction and more vocal defenders. But I think everyone was concerned for the big picture, not just "popular" members.

Anyhow, if I read things right you are now "exonerated." I'm sorry your wife's membership was part of the fallout, and I for one hope you continue to participate.

Kind of sums up my feelings I guess. It seems to me that some people regard certain members as not good enough to even have an opinion here. I've been here for two years and have tried to make some contribution to areas of this site. But it certainly seems like if you're not one of the "popular" people you get ignored and your opinion doesn't mean much. Like many others, I never would believe that Don was guilty of anything because I had seen his contributions here. Perhaps if more people would take the suggestions and ideas of the less popular this site would feel like less of a popularity contest. I have seen too many people get the "Who the heck are you newbie" or "Your score average isn't high enough to matter" type response to remarks in the threads...it's disgusting.

Larry, my wife decided not to cancel her account but you can read that in this thread Exonerated...

Nobody said you're not good enough or your opinion doesn't matter. There's a lot of us here who participate and don't make a big effect, but all of us collectively do.

What I don't understand is why you begrudge the attention, and support, that someone who has invested a lot of himself, as well as his time and efforts, to this community received. Seee, the thing is that Don's efforts have all been about the little guy.....you and me. I joined Team Suck when I was bordering on leaving because I felt like I wasn't good enough to participate here. I learned through the support, encouragement, and camaraderie that this site *is* about more than just a score. I learned that it's about giving support to each other, and helping each other to learn and grow.

Surely you've seen good wishes, cameras, offers of lodging, efforts made outside this community all pitched in on, and carried through for, members in need. Yeah, sometimes it doesn't all work out, but people here do care about each other, and not just a certain few. Look around, talk to people, enter some side challenges, heck.......join Team Suck! Don't limit your experience here to what you perceive someone else might think.

Hey Kevin, I noticed! But in the general melee, yep, your individual case got overlooked. Wendy was in there with you, I think. But as someone pointed out - you guys seemed to have been the minority in that you weren't "guilty" to begin with and therefore required the longer look.

Hopefully you don't take it too personally. Who knows - perhaps the brouhaha helped your case more than hurt it. Anyway, as I said in the other thread, good to see you and Molly will both be sticking around.

If it's any consolation, I am often ignored on many threads.

Glad you're sticking around.

Kevin, most of us left to work on the â1stâ thinking the joke would conclude by the time we got home. Some of us are still waiting for the punch line..

Yeah but not enough to be fashioned into a verb.
