I am one of the recently exonerated people that were labeled in the group of vote "manipulators. I was completely mortified when I received the email from Langdon and my initial correspondence to him was "This better be an April Fool's joke!!" and "I don't think it's funny at all". I soon found out that it wasn't a joke and then my disbelief turned to rage and hurt feelings, and I sent a ticket in asking that my account be closed immediately. During the initial 12 hours my husband and I suffered in silence and waited for an answer to the tickets as we were instructed to do. When others started posting in the thread, my husband could no longer hold it in and posted that he and I had been suspended. We both got about 2 hours sleep that night because we were glued to the thread waiting for an explanation.
When I got the 2nd email from Langdon,(almost 24 hours later) it stated that they believed I was trading votes with my husband, Kleski. I was furious, but I at least knew what I had been charged with. I spent the next two hours compiling a spread sheet with evidence supporting my defense. I sent in another ticket and again I waited for a response. I got the email from Langdon around 9pm last night that our suspensions had been lifted. As relieved as I was, I still had a bad taste in my mouth about the sitution. After much thought, I decided to post my evidence for anyone to see. This way I can move on and not feel like I have a black cloud looming over my head.
So for whatever it's worth, here goes;
I joined DPC in February of 2008. I didn't enter my first challenge until June of 2008. From February to June 08 my husband entered 27 challenges. I voted in 7 of those challenges and my votes are as follows: (the number in parenthesis is the number of members who also gave him the same vote) .......... 7(12), 2(5), 8(20), 10(0), 8(6), 5(60), 9(6).
In June of 2008 I started entering challenges and entered a total of 23 challenges, my last being in September of 08. Of those I voted only 9 times, 7 of which I voted on my husbands entry. My votes during that time are as follows:9(2), 8(9), 9(2), 8(4), 7(30), 8(8), 8(8).
I was inactive from 9/08 until 9/09. Since September of 09, I have entered 13 challenges. Of those challenges, I have voted only 3 times. All three times I voted on my husband's entry. My votes were as follows: 5(76), 8(11), 8(5).
To sum it up, I registered in February of 2008. My husband registered in September 2007. My husband has entered 112 challenges, I have entered 37. I have voted in a total of 19 challenges and in 17 of those I voted on my husband's entry. I felt I was voting honestly, and it never occured to us to "trade" votes. We rarely even discuss voting and if we do it is always after the challenge is over. I realize how this may have looked, but I also feel that if we were guilty of "vote trading", I would have voted on all or at least many more of his entries.
I know some members are still questioning who was involved and wondering if everything has truely been resolved. I felt it necessary for my own peace of mind, to publicly explain my position, so I could move on and put this behind me. Lesson learned... I will no longer be voting on my husband's entries. :) |

Lol, that was my first impression. I thought friend voting was to boost the score of the friend, not to give them 2's, lol! Glad you were exonerated! |

This is a bit off topic. But I need to ask because Ive noticed it twice this week. Husband and Wife members that both have the male icon by the user name. Why is that? |

I can answer that... I scrubbed everything off of my profile page when I asked that my account be closed. It should be fixed now.. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. :) |

I sympathize completely. I voted for my wife many times when I first started here (far more than you, and no twos). I personally don't believe there's anything wrong with it, but I stopped doing it a couple years ago when I heard various flaks about "buddy voting" and wanted there to be no suspicion. Now I only vote for her on some rare occasions when I don't know it's her.
Best regards to you and kleski |
