I've got a sunpak tripod... Not disappointed at all.

| I hope you're not planning on mounting your 50D on it. If you do, be very careful and always have an eye on it. It's only rated to hold 3lbs so your G9 would be more like it. I guess for the money you paid you can't go wrong as long as you don't have any accidents with it. I recently purchased a tripod for $40 because of the excellent online reviews (probably manufacturer written) but was sorely disappointed. The thing jiggled at the slightest touch, even without wind, and it's base was not very wide so it could topple over easily. I gave it to a friend to use and she broke it in no time. Very cheaply made. I guess these things are very inexpensive for a reason. Good luck wit it. |

I bought the little black one at Worst Buy a couple of years ago. Legs are kinda spindly when extended, but the center column provided the basis for modifying my Mafrotto 785B to mount a better ballhead on it. And it comes with a decent carry bag that fits Frankenfrotto nicely.
Oh, and the tripods on Woot are only 1 for the $10.

| I have the gray one. My mom bought it for me sometime back. It held my Nikon D40 with the kit lenses, but not so well with my D300 with a 70-200 VR =) I just use it as a stand for my flash now. Works perfect for that. |
