Again, it is very important to look at the reasons who stop people from subscribing. Not all of them can be adjusted, but if you discover a couple of improvements which can remove some resistance, then why not implement them? This thread introduces a question which should be asked periodically.

I'd think that one reason people might have for not joining a contest site is if they see that the people running it can be bullied into making exceptions for careless members who break the rules, and then publicly curse out the people responsible for running an honest competition.

We have an entire forum section devoted to "Site Suggestions" -- I'm not prepared to accept suggestions contained in a post which questions my parents' marital status at the time of my birth.

Perhaps you SHOULD read the entire post before you start offering opinions out of context.

glimpses, if you don't feel obligated to read the thread before adding your opinion, I don't think I'll bother to read your post. Sorry.

Ok guys.

This is to explain why I did not read it and, maybe, why I had the right to do so.

I just tried to summarize this thread in the only (quite relevant) good content I have found in it: the title.

Then, even now, I vahe tried to read it from start but it is just dense of pretty childish insults and I do not see any reason for going over 4 pages of this when my point was far and different.

I understand that you don't want to read it after this thread has been driven so far. I am, in fact, suprised that this thread was not removed and my suggestion would have been to replace it with another thread with a slightly different title "what keeps you from a paying membership?" and ask this kind of question periodically.

Sorry for whoever felt insulted by the insults of this guy. I perfectly understand your feelings. On the other end, just consider that he was evidently "too young" to be taken seriously, IMHO.

Yeh I thought he was ''too young'', but for some reason, having not put his age on his profile when he regsitered, he put up his age - 34. Now thats 'young' to me because I am 51 but its not 'young' in the sense that I thought he was about 18 or so because of his immature rantings.

I remember the pic, and I remember giving it probably more thought than I'd ever given another photo. I can't remember what I ultimately decided apon, but I made a mental note "too risque for the ma-and-pa operation of DPC" even though I liked it....admittedly I wasn't sure what Rusted Steel Slut meant. And by not sure, I mean I had no clue. Whatever statement you were making went right over my head and NOT because I thought it was inappropriate...I just plum didn't get it...

This is really interesting (along with your comments that followed). You really liked it, because you thought it had some deep meaning, but you had no idea what that meaning was, and if it didn't have that deep meaning, then you don't like it...

So, I have to ask, what was it that made you initially say you liked it? What was it about the photo (which you say you do, then don't quite, remember) that made you say you like it? Was it simply that it said something you thought might be taboo, or might be offensive to some people? Is that all it takes to make a good photo?

(Hope this isn't percieved as an attack. I'm not trying to be beligerently arguementative. Just trying to raise the question of why some people see "offensive" or "dirty" or "unconventional" as automatically having a likeable quality.)

I didn't get the title, but liked the photo for the pic itself and because it was obviously edgy. I don't remember being hypocritical and retracting that statement, I could go back and read the thread but I'd rather go back to bed.

Let me quote one of DPC's 'gods' from a previous thread where I commented on his tireless whining [ooooooh taboo] "I've earned the right to whine". Blah blah double standard? Omitting a few curse words doesn't make a whiny rant any less mundane and well, whiny.

Everyone has the right to whine, they just shouldn't expect to whine and not get asked if they would like some cheese to go along with it.
