I used a trackball for years, before wireless mice became cheap and good enough. My favorite was another logitech model:
I must have been one of the few fans of this model, as it was not made for very long. Wish it were still produced. Logitech as made several with a similar shape, but they are not quite the same.
I've also used the one you are considering and like it a lot, though not as much as the one I mentioned above. I put one on the Macintosh at work, because we had it on a small table. The manager in that area "borrowed" it on a semi permanent basis, so I went out and got another one and told him "Happy Birthday". The only minor drawback I find with it is that it is humped up in the middle, behind the trackball, and the way I hold it, it gets uncomfortable after expended periods. It is due to my preferred way of holding it though. I like to rest my palm on it and I think they intended for it to be held more like a mouse.
I do think the fingertip operated trackballs like this are very accurate once you get used to them. I have tried the thumb operated trackballs a couple of times and hate that variety.

Thanks Yo_Spiff for your feedback. Actually the problem with me is that this product is not available in local store so I can't have the real feel of using it. Though I got idea of it through online video review. What I came to know is that as you said finger tracking is more precise than thumb. The scrolling feature is not there but keeping the left button pressed & tracking should do the scrolling. I am hoping it will be useful for especially photoshop. I am taking feedback from the DPC users just to ensure before placing my online order.
I will also like to know about your favorite keyboards. |

I did find scrolling was not as convenient as I would like. It was more convenient on the curvy model I mentioned earlier, because I mapped one of the thumb buttons to the scroll function and rolled the ball. I'm not sure if the design of the marble mouse lends itself to any better placement of the extra buttons that what they have done.
As far as keyboard preference, I like the wavy, split style. I am presently using a Microsoft natural Keyboard 4000 at work and the wireless version of it at home:

Go for a tablet instead.....using a mouse for editing is like drawing with a large piece of wood.

Which reminds me that I bought a tablet from another member a while back and have not tried it yet. Thanks for the reminder. |

I agree. Tablets are beyond awesome for editing. They're also super useful for general use. I map one of my programmable keys to change window and it's a dream for general use and webbrowsing. I've got one of these.
It's unfortunate, because I posted a deal not long ago for the same product for $160 less...
Admittedly, tablets do take a little getting used to, but I found them relatively intuitive and definitely useful. |

I use that too at home. I can't type on regular keyboards anymore. They hurt. ;) I just hope these keyboards stay mainstream and are not taken out of production because I will be a very sad person if I can't buy another after this one dies. |

| Thanks for your valuable inputs. I finally ordered Trackman Marble Mice. I was knowing about the Tablets but right now I found them considerably costly. In future someday I may have it. I was more interested in this mice since my new big monitor Dell SP2209W is about to come & I wish I will have great time using my both new devices. I also like the keyboard Microsoft digital media 3000. I like the way they have provided additional function keys. |

You'll love the trackball. I've used them for years... I'm currently using a Cordless Trackman At least before I got my Wacom Intuos3 tablet. The new one is even better.
Once you have your trackball you'll never like using a mouse again.
