As soon as the summer starts for me I have decided to buy a few memory cards and go RAW only.I hear that it is so much better and I am always looking for the "next best thing" with photography. I have looked on google but could not find what I was looking for exactly. I keep getting "raw converters" and I know I will need one but that is not what I am looking for...
This is what I am looking for. A quick explanation as to what exactly a RAW image is. I know you can mess with the white balance during PP, but thats about all I know. If someone would either explain to me what it is or send a link that does explain I would be more than happy! :)
Thanks! |

You don't need to have a DSLR - your Canon Powershot can create RAW files:

Nice link Yo Spiff. That is going to be my weekend read :)
mbrutus, note that you may not have to purchase a RAW converter. If you have a DSLR, you camera likely came with some software, some of which is for reading RAW files for your camera. In my usage, the Canon Digital Photo Professional does a fairly decent job, and is actually really easy to use. It doesn't have all the fancy stuff that Photoshop does, but it has a fair number of adjustments. |

| Great link Steve. Even if you already shoot raw it's a good refresher. |
