Hi,

I'm looking into using smug mug to host password protected proof galleries. Is it possible for the file name to be seen prominently in those galleries?

I believe that the file name is the default title for an image. As such to answer your question...yup!

You may also want to take a look in their forums. Not saying that posting your question here is wrong or anything, but that you may get a little closer to the source that way.

Good luck getting it setup the way you want.

You can set a variety of specific view options for each gallery as you see fit. Or you can globally set all your galleries to be the same. So if one gallery is just a portfolio for general consumption, you can make it public, and select image size, ordering allowed or not, what can be ordered, file names visible, keywords visible, comments allowed or not, etc. Similar controls on a private gallery. And you can set the image size that is displayed to be small, prevent right click downloading, etc.

I happen to have a "pro" account there (I got it as an extra from a Don Giannatti workshop). I am not certain what options are available with a free account.

If you happen to be a mac user, iPhoto and a MobileMe account lets you do all the private gallery stuff, too.

In the gallery, check under Tools menu and click Gallery Settings, browse down to Look & Feel in the gallery settings menu and where it says Filenames, select Yes. Hit Save.
