I know you can use multiple images in advanced but I took a shot for an advanced editing entry that I wanted the background to be sharp as well as the foreground so I put the 2 images together and used layer mask to bring portions of the blurry background into focus. Is this legal?

As far as I am aware, focus bracketing is legal in advanced. I used it for this entry a little over a year ago:

I also recall an entry of a watch that was focus bracketed for 7 or more frames.

Yep. Validated too. Here's a Blue Ribbon winner from a couple months back (read the photographer's comments).

Really? Wow, I assumed that it wasn't legal, because it's not the same shot. An area in-focus and the same area out of focus in two different shots, really are two different shots put together.

Can we have official word on this? It opens a whole new world... (small one, but new world anyway...)

Focus stacking is *definitely* legal in Advanced.
