A year or so ago, the Seattle DPC crowd had a GTG that included a tour of the historic Paramount Theatre. We enjoyed a backstage tour of the theatre and got to hear the Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Organ.
On Monday evening the 15th, the Paramount continues it's Silent Movie Monday series with an academy award winning film from 1928 starring Gloria Swanson, and Lionel Barrymore called "Sadie Thompson." The film is among the finest dramatic achievements of the 1920's. The story line goes something like this ... A south seas lady of the night seduces a hellfire preacher, who threatens to send her back to San Francisco unless she repents and converts. Hijinks ensue. We'll hear Jim Riggs accompany the film on the Mighty Wurlitzer.
I'll be there and it might be fun for the Pacific Northwest DPC crowd to see this film and its brilliant B&W cinematography ... just as it would have been enjoyed ... in the Paramount ... in 1928.
And it might be fun to do an impromptu GTG to watch the film (tickets about $12). Smallish cameras are allowed. There's a great martini bar nearby. And an opportunity to do some night shooting in my home town.
Anybody interested?

I have to agree with Beetle on this one. I attended one of the GTG in Seattle and had a wonderful time. Have fun and don't forget to take and post some of the photos you took.

As I recall though, we ran into quite a bit of trouble that day...

That was one scary GTG. Those protesters almost took me hostage. |

Just found out about this late Sunday night and probably can't meet for tomorrow. But I would love to meet up with other Seattle DPCers some other time. I don't check the forums much but maybe someone can remember to contact me for the next get together? |

Looks like I didn't think of this in time to give folks enough notice. So far it's Frank and me. I'll be down by the organ before and after the show ... dressed just like I am in my portfolio picture in case anyone makes it.
Paramount Theatre - downtown Seattle
7:00 PM Show
Over around 9:00 probably. |
