Is the start of another.

For the past several years I have been known as the 'Blood Guy'. Funny thing is, I was never much 'into' it myself. Though people liked it and said I did it well. Last week I did my last Gore shoot for now. Funny thing is it was a suicide scene. I may or may not load one or two here. Tell the truth I may or may not load them up anywhere. I have actually started removing the horror stuff from my personal website.

My heart was just never all that into the macabre side. Dark emotion sure, but the gore is not really what I want to do. I did it mostly in hopes of having a 'niche' market and being able to do something with it. Though it never did happen. Mostly through faults of my own because I did not truly put the effort in. Yet, because of the genre it is, most people thought they could just throw fake blood around and make it look good. To each their own.

So, the era that is ending is the era of the Zesty Mint. (Ben Nye's Stage Blood, Zesty Mint flavored is the best stage blood I have ever had the pleasure of using) The end of the horror and gore.

Where will I go from here? Who knows exactly. I have other interests, may not even be photography related, but I will continue to take snapshots when the mood catches as well as photograph models when I can find them willing enough to play.

I have some other ideas and concepts I would enjoy working on, but until the resources are available to do them, they are only words on paper.
Some of the ongoing series will be my structure series (bodyscapes) Made of Paper (silhouettes) and a couple others. Future concepts is a playing card set, which the models are a combination of bodypaint and costume. To go along with the playing cards is a lover's triangle storyline where each suit has a different story. Another future concept is a classic Carnival. However, the idea is to make the models/characters look very cheesy and fake but with some 'real' elements. In other words picture a mermaid with a loose fitting tail that is obviously manufactured but she has 'real' gills.

Anyway, just some ideas. Not worried about anyone stealing them, if you can do them well, have at it. Though you will never be able to see what is inside my own minds eye so all is well.

littlegett although I never fancied the genre of your images, I always appreciated that you were consistent and I had always imagined the images expressed a part of you.

I was interested to read your post - makes me rethink my impressions - GRIN!

Hope you do keep with producing images, I think your talent IS unique and I'd been keen to see where that comes up again photographically.

Enjoy the retrospection.

Sounds like the creativity is flowing big time. No puppies and flowers for you, eh?

I would like to say that it was part of me, but men in funny white jackets may take me away L()L I enjoyed doing it. The creativity of it and such. The interaction it created. But on a whole, I have always been more of a fan of Traditional Gothic Horror than Gore Horror. The type where you have the feeling someone is watching but you don't know, the type that makes your goose bumps rise and hair stand on end. That is what I enjoy more so. The Gore has its place and if done properly can be quite effective.

Feel free to rethink your impressions L()L I am not normally what people think I am. L()L I am the type of guy that always has a bad first impression. L()L

Yup, creativity is always flowin, just resources is what holds me back. Though slowly I am getting to the point to be able to do more of what I want. As for puppies and Flowers... well they have their place. L()L I actually dig nice macros of flowers that give the unearthly feel.

Sure, you'll stray into other waters, Andrew, but you can never really leave THE DARK SIDE! Muwaahaaaaahaaaaa!
I can relate - I do a lot of gory stuff sometimes because for me it is cathartic, but I really don't have the stomach for real horror.

Good for you for moving on, stretching out, etc. I've always appreciated your talent and understood it goes beyond the subject matter.

Cheers!

Andrew!!

Good for you! I'm glad you have decided to do what you love rather than what you felt you needed to do. Many hugs and much good luck for your future endeavors (which sound great, IMO). May your lighting be perfect and your photos be sharp, my friend! :)
