I just bought a new Canon 580EX II flash. What is the best way to go for batteries ? I have been using Energizer Lithium(non rechargeable) batteries in my 420 EX flash, but was wondering about rechargeable batteries if they work better and what brand you feel is the best.

Nimh batteries are the way to go. I usually buy any of the big name brands. Sometimes an lesser known make if the price is right. The Sanyo Eneloop batteries have one of the best reps and also one of the highest prices. I have 2 sets of them and they do hold up well.

If you are going to use the flash infrequently, you might consider some of the "hybrid" batteries that hold their charge longer in storage.
