Does anyone know if you can bring an SLR (in the bag) to the Daily show? I see they don't allow cameras (or cell phones). In a forum, it said cell phones must just be in the off position (and they noted cameras too). But I don't want to go all the way down to see the show, wait in line and not get in.
So unless someone knows for sure, I'm leaving the camera behind... :(
Thanks in advance (and unfortunately, I'm leaving in 40 minutes, so there may not even be time to get a proper answer).

When we went to see David Letterman we weren't allowed to take photos but they did not search us for cameras and I had mine with me. I can't imagine they won't let you in if you have it, after all people who go to these shows are usually tourists and are walking around all day with their cameras. |

Ok, for future reference, here's the deal.
Small bags, the size of a fanny pack are allowed in. Backpacks must be checked, though the security team does the checking and it seems small enough to be relatively save. I didn't bring any camera, but I asked and they told me that if I had brought an SLR in a small fanny pack sized bag, they would have required me to check it. I am not sure though if a small digicam would have been allowed in, in the bag. You can't use it of course, the question is just whether or not you need to check your valuable camera equipment.
In short, I'd be hesitant to bring an SLR and check it. But if you had to, the odds are good you'd get it back :)
Cell phones can be brought in, but they must be off, and they said if they see them out and looking like they are being operated, they will be CONFISCATED.
Security was pretty thorough..you have to empty all your pockets, put everything in a tray for inspection, and even take you belt off (but not your shoes). They were serious, but courteous, and the whole process was well organized.
And of course, we enjoyed the show!
