My shoes are still doing very well at 6.1 (it's come down a bit the past 24 hours), lots of comments. My garden shot is at 4.7.

Good bit of Team Suck suckage going on it seems. 'Cept Jeb. We may have to lock his account so he can't enter for a week or two or something...

Nice shoes, Kelli! (I think I know which one is yours, perhaps...)

Now just a cotton'pickin' minute! I'll have you know that a mere four challenges ago I pulled a respectable 4.9553, and it didn't touch 5.0 the whole week!

When this Shoes challenge is over, I'm gonna tell ya the story, and you guys are gonna laugh your asses off! It actually hit 6.8 briefly, my lowest profile page score is 6.7937, it's back at 6.7500 right now, and I have never so badly in my entire time here *NOT* wanted an image to end up on my profile page!

It would bump this off, and when you see my Shoes entry at the end of the week, you'll see how wrong that is! LOL!!!

ETA: I just realized that I tried to justify that I still suck! LOL!!!

Your point being? My shoes, which is really really good, is running 4.9531, one of the highest in a long time...

I suck too....my shoes is at 3.4720, but what's so wrong is that it's not even an artsy fartsy kinda sucky shot, it's just sucky. But as I said before I need a brown ribbon to kick start my collection of ribbons. I'm thinking this will do it.

Well.....I would never presume to be able to achieve your level of suck, but I can still slide one through every now and then.

I guess I was just pleased that I put forth a perfectly fine entry in both concept and execution that the voters panned, and I'm still fine with it.

I mean, REALLY!!! Is this a piece of the huiman form, and a pretty darn delightful one, or what?

The challenge description said human body, didn't say it *must* be flesh & blood. LOL!!!

Me too - wonder if it was the same one...

I'm doing quite well in Garden. It was a fun challenge to vote in, too, with plenty of variety to keep me interested, and some real gems. I'm in for framed; I have had back ache or the past couple of days, am hoping it will be gone by tomorrow so that I can go out and shoot for Parallel Lines - the shot I have planned involves a three mile walk with tripod and gear so will only go if back is better.

I'm not in any challenge. This ppchallenge is getting way out of hand.

But I will be in free study. And I have an idea for framing...

I am really enjoying my photography again - just shooting for me, but also enjoying when a challenge inspires me. Lots of ideas to try new things - but I am the world's worst procrastinator, so I suspect none of them will come to fruition...

Now, you see, if too many things are in hand then you may find you have your hands full.
You should do something about that procrastination, Sara. Only not right now, OK?

Raish - looks like a fun time was had by all.

Think I'll worry about the procrastination issue tomorrow - mind you, given that the weekend will be nearly over it might be better to think about it for next weekend instead...

Very nice documentation of the day, Peter! And I'm envious Sara - enjoy the delights of shooting!

Oh my, I love that little boy in the last frame. I really want to pinch those cheeks. He looks like a happy guy for sure.

I've been looking around with a view to upgrading to the D700. However, love him or hate him, Ken Rockwell seems to think that the D700 is a great camera and takes exceptional photos, but when taking nature shots with extreme lenses, the DX crop factor is better than FX as more detail can be extracted from a DX shot. So, that made me stop short of buying the D700 today.

Looking around the camera shop my eyes lighted on a D90, the smaller plastic bodied Nikon. A little research just added to the confusion when I read that image quality is as good as, if not better in some cases, than my D300! Why, cos it's a newer camera and has been tweaked a bit. That brick wall is getting closer every minute and I have bandaged my head in anticipation. Do I get a D90 as back up body? Do I get the D700 for FX as half my lenses are FX lenses? Or, do I wait for Nikon to bring out a D300 replacement with more megapixels etc?

You know what, motherlee's Nikon D3000 takes almost as good photos as the D300?? when viewed at 800x800 for this site.

Yours confused:)

I upgraded from the D200 to the D700 in December. I adore my D700! The high ISO performance was the feature I most wanted and it is everything it's cracked up to be. Usable images at ISO 6400!! With the caveat that at extremely high ISO I can't crop severely or adjust levels too much. Just need to get it mostly right in-camera.

I've been using FX lenses but the D700 can either manually or automagically switch to a DX crop when you attach a DX lens. Haven't played with that enough to offer an opinion on the performance or quality of its DX images.

Sample nature shot with my Sigma 100-300 f/4 lens (this one is cropped to about half the original image):

Enough detail for me, and I have way more flexibility in setting speed and f/stop than when I used the same lens on my D200 so I don't have to always shoot wide open in low light.

YMMV ;-)

Someone's dumping a bunch of 1's in the shoe challenge. I think I've gotten 4 of them in the past few hours. Weird.

Soo frickin jealous! The D90 is still best at 400 ISO or less.

4 votes apart, and only 0.0003 difference in score. How cool is that??

Hey fellow TSers, I am having a tremendously horrible time with my computer, so unless a miracle occurs I won't have an entry for Free Study, or Framing, or Egg II. SUCKS!!!

Just got an 11th hour validation request on my shoes. Now I know this border isn't illegal! LOL! I hate how that makes your stomach clench every time it happens.
