My hard drive if filling up quick. I have a 250 gig internal on my laptop. I don't need to tell you that today's image files are huge and fill up internal drives pretty fast.
I signed up for a trial of Carbonite. It works great. It backed up a few gigs overnight and was crusing in the morning. However, I just found out that Carbonite is NOT an archiver. It will only keep what is on your hard drive. It will delete your "backups" within 30 days of you deleting it from your hard disk.
I know many people will get plenty of use out of this service, but I feel it is NOT for photographers.
I'll keep doing it the old way -- backup on two externals before deleting from my computer....oh well.
Thank god I researched more before I shelled out $55 ! |

Check out Drobo. I, and others on the site, use it and I love it. It represents an initial outlay of money, but can grow with your need and also as space gets cheaper. In other words, you can upgrade your space as prices continue to fall rather than having to buy all anticipated space now.
