Does anyone have an opinion - either way - on Penn Foster or ProudPhotography.com? I'm looking for something that will guide me along. I've tried the local high school night program, but the teacher read directly out of a book for 10 very long weeks. It wasn't worth the time or energy. I've ruled out NYIP because there are such mixed reviews. Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

In relation to proudphotography.com

looks like bullshit to me.

12. Insiders' Tricks and Techniques
This segment alone is worth the cost of the entire Proud Photography Online Course! You'll learn all the ins and outs the pros use:

*
Using high ISO in low light
*
Super-creative fisheye photography
*
Zoom lens tricks
*
Amazing macro photography
*
How to use special filters, from multiple image to soft focus to color to polarizing
*
How to use fill-in flash and reflectors
*
How to use slow sync flash
*
How to create multiple exposures on one frame of film
*
The proper way to shoot against the light
*
How to piece together multiple panoramic shots
*
How to capture ooh and aaah-inspiring fireworks

c'mon...

how to use filters? How to capture fireworks?! using High ISO in low light? Jeez. These are the simplest things in the world that have been answered a million times in this forum and countless others and nothing that can't be learned by either getting out of the house and doing it, or by a google search.

I'd steer clear of this site. It looks crap and cheap, has stock pictures all over the place and doesn't seem to be offering anything worthwhile, but just a method of stealing your money.

I say forget about it.

ETA: what exactly are you looking to learn?

Yeah, what are you trying to learn? Your shots are great already! They couldn't possibly benefit from those novice-sounding programs.
