I have never attacked anyone for their critique club critique... um, at least I don't think I have...

so don't sweat it when you get one of my pictures. I enjoy the thoughtful look at my photos as much as anyone else. That's why I click on the checkbox.

Okay, I admit it's not because I want higher scores. :) I just want to know what you think.

Er-Um - I critiqued a couple of your pictures recently.
When a member of the Critique Club comments on an image s/he brings whatever insight that is available to bear. It may be positive; it may be negative.

From your post, posthumous, I'm not sure.

Are you mad at us?
Are you okay with us?

I think he's asking you to critique his image when he checks the box, not to let it add to the thousands of uncritiqued images...

I've critiqued stunning images in the top 10, and images which were shooting for the brown as opposed to the blue. So, whenever I get one of Don's images to critique, I just critique it as I would any other image. The fact that he is the fearless leader of Team Suck, to which I belong and which of course Don founded, is basically besides the point.

And to date I have not yet been kicked off Team Suck, nor has Don failed to click the Useful checkbox. So all is good :-)

But have his requests been answered?

sorry for the confusion. what I'm talking about is that some critique club critiques start with qualifiers and such... so I want to assure you that the critiques I'm getting are great. No complaints here!

Whew, that makes me feel better, posthumous! For a minute there...

But this does give me the chance to answer george917's posts when he said:
I think he's asking you to critique his image when he checks the box, not to let it add to the thousands of uncritiqued images...
and the 2nd post with this question:
But have his requests been answered?

Here are the statistics on the Critique Club activity since the group was established (apparently at about the same time the site was established)
these stats are as of a few minutes ago:
Since its inception
76,580 have been requested
15,028 have been critiqued
by a total of 382 volunteer (and vetted) members.
Within the last two weeks, 14 critique club members have been active.

Are you good at math, george917? I think you can see the problem.

At the present time we get about 80 or so requests each week.
we do as many as we can. Now, for a couple of years I did quite a few and then
got sick of it and stopped for a long time. Now I'm back and doing them again with
a whole new crew of dedicated people who do as many as they can with their own busy
schedules.

Okay, that's my response. And, again, posthumous, I'm glad you are not cross with us.

sfalice, how does the critique club decide which photos to critique. I've requested critiques on three photos and have got critiques from two of them, and the third is in a still active challenge. Being new to photography I apreciate the sage wisdom and expert advice that I have received. The CC is One of the greatest parts of this website IMHO.

it's totally random.

Yup, as posthumous says, "it's totally random."
When we go to our little Critique Club page, there is a box that says "Give me an image to critique"
We never know what that image will be. I can be a high scoring pic, a low scoring one, or anything in between.
We never know who owns it until it appears on our screen. And we have to critique that particular image before we get another one. No picking and choosing here. And oh my, that makes it interesting. Yeah, and fun.

ETA: We don't get images that are in active voting states. Only the ones that have finished that process. And they go away (into the archives) when the next Challenge finishes. So only the current ones are in our queue. For example, there are about 34 in the queue right now. On Sunday night, if we don't get to them, last Sunday's 'left-overs' will just go away, because a new Challenge bunch will take their place.

Don, my beginning statement was about 50% concern about getting my first one right, 50% tongue in cheek, guess I should had placed a smiley. As for asking for a critique of my critique, there are few I would ask that of, and I felt you would answer honestly as you did, and I thank you..
