You were in town and didn't give me a call?
02/07/2010 10:46:30 PM · #52
If you haven't heard the Saints WON! I wonder if that will make the celebrations next weekend even better!

Ken, I was thinking the same thing. Mardi Gras may have started already, lol!
If I can find a cheap hotel, we'll be there. Money is tight right now, so we're still on the fence. I can't remember what the name of the hotel we stayed at last year was. (It was in front of the Hampton.) It was cheaper than the Hampton, but clean.

The crappy part is I have to shoot w/the XT! Dang it!

Just look at it as an opportunity to show us you can kick our butts with a lesser camera.

It has KNOWN sensor dust, lol! And no dust delete! Grrr. :) Although, I would definitely be up to the challenge, ha! (I'll get my butt kicked!)

I have a sensor cleaning kit if you would like me to bring it. My late Rebel XT had a blob on the sensor that no cleaning would get rid of. Fortunately, it was near the edge where it was easily cloned or cropped out.

That just means the hangovers will be bigger. I reckon the two celebrations will overlap. Congrats to New Orleans Fans. I am truely happy for ya.

Looks like we will have plenty of material for next weeks member challenge. How convenient! (I'll have to edit on the netbook, though)

Ken sorry I didn't call this weekend....it was primarily a work weekend for me. I just couldn't miss going out to the parade though. I will give you a call sometime this week though.

OK, here is where we stand. Kat can't make it, she sent me a pm and let me know.

If someone has a non-photography attendee and would like to goof off Friday night for a little while pm me (or call) and I'll give the details.

Looks like snow here for Thurs and Fri, but up in the high 50's for Sat afternoon. Should be decent until the sun goes down.

Replies to the following questions can be answered here.

Who is coming Friday afternoon? (I usually get off about 3:30) We'll find something to shoot.

Who wants to go to the base at 6am Sat?

Who wants to go to the base at 6am Sun?

For Sat or Sun morn I will come around and pick up everyone up, or I can give directions/meet people to bring their vehicles over to the house. If we meet at the house we can come back after the lake and have a BBQ or go to The Real Pickle. We will then wonder back and forth in the afternoon shooting people.

ps. I'm going to miss Kat and James for this. But maybe we can all have a GTG for the Wildflower Trail (April?) or the Sunflower Festival (May?) or anything else anyone knows of in NE Texas or NW LA.

I'll be in Friday afternoon. If we leave when planned, we should be in Bossier between 1500-1600.

I'm open to the 6 am shoot either day, I'll go along with whatever suits everyone else.

I think I'm staying not to far from you. If you want to swing by and get me that's fine, or I can meet you at your place. My wife will be sleeping in. As long as I don't leave her stranded at the motel all day.

Sent you a pm Steve.

Did you find where and when the parade thingy is. If you can provide me the website you found it at I can plan on us shooting that Friday evening.

I am open to the 6am shoot or whatever the weekend brings us. I still have my apartment there in shreveport so that is where I am staying. Ken, I'll give you a call tomorrow (thurs) to iron out the details and get your new address....etc. This should be a great weekend.

Thanks, now all they need to do is disclose the secret location! :-) I'll find it.

I didn't think of it before, but there are casinos in town. I don't typically go but if anyone wants to finance the casinos we can always spend 5 to 10 minutes there also. (no photo ops in the casinos)

Those that are driving over today need to watch the roads, especially the bridges. This is what I woke up to this morning.

The good news is the temps tomorrow are still supposed to be in the 50's in the afternoon. The lake shoot in the morning will probably be about 30 deg. so bring appropriate clothing.

We'll be leaving FW a few hours later than originally planned. Give the roads a chance to clear some. We got a total of about 7 1/2 inches here. It set some new records for N. Texas.

Hi Guys, I'm going to have to stay home this weekend to catch up on sleep. I run the water utilities for the City of Marshall, TX and have been here at the water plant since 3 a.m. Our pump station on Big Cypress is not scheduled to have power until Sunday. I've got a generator coming in from Lafayette. On the bright side, I did get outside for about an hour and drove around the rural areas in Harrison County and got some pretty snow photos. Bet one shows up on a Free Study. Hope you have fun and catch some beads. Send me a message if something local is happening. There is always Jefferson TX or maybe a spring Caddo Lake tour. I can work on arranging something.

Sorry you won't be able to make it, but I can certainly understand your priorities at the moment. I guess that's 3 of us now, plus my drag-along? Disregard, I see in the list there are several others coming who have not been involved in the thread much.

Sorry you can't make it, but it happens. Maybe we'll get to meet at another GTG.

Waiting for you Steve.

So???? How did it go? I was thinking about all of you yesterday and today as we had LOTS of fog here and went out shooting locally for quite awhile yesterday. Nothing as spectacular as the base here, but I might have something worthy after it's all done. (Maybe...) We'll just have to see.

Post your shots kids, I wanna see what you all did and what we missed!! :)

Went well. Today started off wonderful with a gorgeous sunrise, but it turned very cold while waiting for the highland parade. You missed getting an embarrassing shot of my fat butt stuck in a broken lawn chair. I think Adam got that one, however. I'll be adding to my collection of me rolling on the ground. I'll see if it can get a couple of shots posted in just a bit.
