| Does such a thing even exist??? I've had like 3 cheap card readers and I've either bent the pins in the CF slot or they've just stopped working. I'd be willing to pay a little more for a quality constructed and "name brand" card reader. Any suggestions? |

You might try this one. It's about the fastest USB reader out there, and the Lexar readers have been rock solid reliable. I have an older Lexar FireWire reader that I've literally been using for most of the past decade, and still does a nice job, though not UDMA.
What kind of cards will you be using the reader with? Are you sure that one of your cards is not to blame for the pin damage? |

its for a CF card for my D300, my laptop has a slot for an SD card which I use with my D50... so I only need a CF reader, I don't care about any of the rest.
Yea I know its not my card, I saw the pin bent inside the latest cheap reader I bought, I even tried to fiddle with it and ended up breaking it off entirely. I bought a cheap $4 one off ebay and I can't get either of my pc's to recognize it, cheap Hong Kong stuff..
I'll take a look at the link. I was thinking that the companies that make the CF cards should make a decent reader, my CF card is SanDisk tho, not Lexar... and I haven't heard of firewire, except for my camcorder... but thanks for the link :) |

| Probably not what you are looking for, since you have a laptop, but I have one of these bay mounted card readers from Silverstone, and it works very well. It also has a full complement of I/O ports as well. |
