Who can help? I downloaded and installed the Fujifilm ICC color profile for Fuju Frontier printers and Crystal Archive paper for Mac OSX from the Fuji website. I then place the file in the systems/library/colyrsync/profile/display where I have all my other customized profiles as well.
Then when I open System Preferences /display/color and wish to select the Fuji profile it is not there. All my other profiles show up and can be selected but the Fuji color profile is just not there. ???? Anybody know why or have a solution?
Thanks
Fred

are you trying to use it as the monitor profile? why?
can you see it through Photoshop, etc.? you may have to uncheck under System Prefs/Display uncheck profiles for this monitor
you should just put in yourlogin/Library/Colorsync and leave it there. where all mine show up and work from

That is the profile that my local print shop uses on their Fuji Frontier mini lab. My prints have been coming back from them with too much red and too dark when I use the profile of my calibrated monitor. So they told me to try using the same ICC profile which they use. If my monitor is properly calibrated like theirs is then using that profile should enable me to get my images to look almost the same on my monitor as on their monitor and thus I should be able to get prints from them that are much more true in color and brightness.
I don't have photoshop.
I have dropped the profile in my users library colorsync profile file and it does not show up in my system preferences/monitor/color
I also tried dropping it in the system library colorsync file with the same negative result.

| What a dumbo I am. I did not realize that this is a color profile for Fujifilm paper. Not for monitors. |

Well, that certianly explains why you weren't seeing in the montitors control panel! ;-) |

Then it's a Mac problem? LOL

No it's not a Mac issue alone. It's a monitor versus print result issue imo. Like this article I found explains as well as offering some good solutions.
The words of death are, "it looked good on my calibrated monitor."

I find that my prints which come back from the print shop look too red. There are oranges in my photo. On my monitor they look perfect in color like an orange should but on the prints that come back from the print shop the oranges are almost red. |

Thanks for the good link.
One of my customers, a graphic designer, just had a batch of promo post cards printed from some of my stock images, and they all look great, so I guess that I am ok in that respect. The colors in the cards look pretty close to what I see on my monitor, and the detail in the shadows is about perfect. I am happy with my setup. I am using a G5 Powermac, with 17" studio monotor, and the mac default calibration.

| Here is some information on using printer profiles from Dry Creek Photo -- also check out the info and tables near the bottom on specific pixel dimensions to use for various photo imagers. FWIW Costco uses these profiles for their printers. |
