I really like: The Big Dipper (roast beef sandwich on a french loaf with aus jus), The Rueben, and the Frankenstein.

Kat, does this mean that you and James are definite? If so I need to move y'all to the definite list.

How's the wrestling match going? Can I assume that y'all are not getting distracted while on the carpet? |

WooHoo! Back on line.
Steve, I will go around that morning and pick everyone up. We will have to stop by Pass and ID and register everyone and then proceed on to the lake area. Get with Kat on where her and James stayed last year, I think their accomodations were reasonable and not to far from the base. They stayed in Bossier and it's easy for me to get there (of course anywhere in the Shreveport/Bossier area is pretty easy to get to).
We will plan the time to allow for getting registered and getting to the lake just at/before sunrise. That would probably mean pickup somewhere around 6 - 6:30 am. Everyone will need a picture ID to get on the base.
When we go over to the parade area on Sat afternoon everyone can bring their vehicle and park. Then we can take one vehicle (I'll volunteer my truck) to get us closer to the parade so we can lock extra gear in the truck.
I think Marge is going to possibly set up a barbacue (weather permitting) for us all.
We are only 2 weeks away, does anyone else need to be moved from the maybe to definite maybe or the 'will be there' lists?
p.s. Kat, thanks for letting everyone know I wasn't ignoring them intentionally.

Am I doing this alone?
There seems to be an echo in here! |

Might not make it. I was going to make hotel reservations after getting paid this past Friday, but now we are having some heater problems in the house. I'll have to see how much it's going to cost me before I know if I can go. |

I hope things work out for you even if you can't make it over here. Gotta have the heat with the global warming we're having in this area.
Hope to see you though! |

Kettle and I are busy on Saturday but hoping to come over Sunday. Let us know if anything is planned on Sunday. We can drive over early. I let DrPhoto from Tyler TX know about this post. |

The weather is the trick this time of year. I am hoping we will make an early morning run to the lake on base, go get some breakfast, then the Highlands parade starts around 11am I think. I have to double check the times. |

I forgot to add we need to try and get to the lake by about 6:30am. Which means heading out about 6 to get people that aren't already registered cleared to get on base. |

Heater repairs were relatively cheap for that sort of work. (Some relay and timer repairs, but no major failures) Motel reservations are now made. Move me up to the "gonna be there" list. |

I am going out tomorrow to shoot a bunch of people in costumes. It is no Mardi Gras but will be almost as Crazy. The Rugby 7's are in town this weekend and tomorrow afternoon 1000's of people dressed up in all kinds of Costumes will be gathering in town to parade to the stadium for the start of the games. Ive been told that these people love to have their photos taken so I should come away with some good ones. |

Sounds like fun, make sure you post some of the pics here or give us a link to your thread about it. We will probably just post our photos here since it's a short thread. I am hoping to have time to post sproradically during the GTG.
Yo_Spiff, you have been moved to the 'definite' list.

Does anyone else besides myself and Bergiekat have a non-photographer spouse coming along? My wife is wondering about the logistics of her getting to the parade and finding a good spot to watch from. Since all of us will be running around with our cameras, she would like to coordinate with the other "drag-alongs", if possible.
I also checked the web site and it looks like they are having a float loading event the previous evening. That might be good for some shots that can't be obtained during the actual parade. I expect to arrive mid-afternoon Friday. |

Don't worry to much about the logistics of getting to the parade. I live about 4 blocks from the parade on Saturday, everyone can come to the house and we will park my truck by the parade route. For the non-photography interested parties Marge is doing a Chocolate Pot Luck on Saturday from 2 - 4 pm. Anyone is invited for that. Any questions though have to be sent to Marge.
I didn't see anything about the float loading event, we can surely do that! I will probably get off of work about 3pm on Friday. I am now sending my cell # to all the folks.
I will pm all with my cell number, use it at will for coordination and agitation. |
