I've had a Canon LIDE 30 for a few years now and been quite happy with it. Ive been looking at purchasing a newer scanner, however, for two reasons:
-I have installed 64 bit Win7. Because of it's age, the lide 30 is unlikely to ever have 64 bit drivers, so I must reboot into 32 bit Vista to use it.
-Would like to be able to scan film. Pro level high end is not needed, but I do want acceptable images from it.
The Epson Perfection V300 is on sale at Fry's right now for $70. Anyone with experience using this scanner or a similar Epson model? |

| i have the v500, and i love it. it scans quickly and at insanely high resolutions, if you desire such a thing. the included software is ok, you can adjust color balance, levels, etc. the included film holders are decent as well, although i find 35mm to be a little more cumbersome than medium format. it's the only scanner i've used, so i really can't compare it to anything else, but based on my experience it's a good buy. if you're interested i can post a few photos i've scanned with it, both black and white and color. |

I'll take your word for it. I found reviews from a couple of sources I trust and the only bad thing thing they had to say about it was that the cables to the lid could have been in a better location.
I was just a little cautious about the image quality of a flatbed with built in film scanning based on earlier feedback, but it sounds like this one does well. Thanks. |
