CRAZY amount of post-processing on this (IMO and I stated as such for in-challenge commenting on this). I'm shocked that this came in 4th for the challenge. Kudo's to Deen, but still...

I wonder what TrollMan thinks of this? From earlier in this thread:

DPC is a photography challenge site and I always try to keep that in mind when voting. I do of course not care how much photogs use Topaz or HDR capabilities as long as it is used in such a way that the image looks more real than what it might have done out of the camera ...

Tough to tell.... A fabulous image and I would much rather have the edited image on my wall than the one that isn't edited.
BUT... having said that; there is in my eyes hardly any evidence of a photograph here and in the context of a photography challenge I would have a hard time judging it as a photo and commented but skipped scoring it.
So: Great image, but IMO no longer a photograph. If someone had told me this was a painting I would have believed them.
I did not vote in this challenge BTW.

I had a hard time with this image too. I like it a lot actually. It looks surreal now and I love the colours, especially that green moss on the tire. Yes, it looks drawn but it looks good and I can't put my finger on why I like it so much. Is it the feeling of abandonment or the fact we can see that someone at one point took care of this bug because it was covered with a tarp, now it's in ruins. I don't know but I like it. :)

I was also very surprised how high this came in voting. Not knocking the photo in anyway, but I thought the voting here usually went more towards photo than digital art.

In my opinion, a black and white photo is as surreal as a "over processed" tone mapped photo. The world is colorful in reality, but bw photo deprives the world of its color just as many tone mapped photos distorts what we see.

If this is a photo for a news report or a magazine such as National Geographic, I would consider it a crap. But for art, I think that what I feel or what I want to present is more important than what I see. I created this digital photo to represent my feel and imagery about this car, not just document it, and it is more close to the reality in my heart. After all, I'm not a journalist when I shot this photo. ;)

I totally agree.
