I scanned thru the entries ( I haven't voted yet) but maybe it's just me but I saw quite a few photos of fruit but not still life shots.
Well I'm going to review the definition of still life before I vote to not Diss deserving entries :)

I thought I made it resonable clear that I had done It quickly due to the fact that I have exams tomorrow..
And also saying that I will be commenting later (therefore looking at the pictures once again).
To add, The lowest vote I gave out was a 5 to make up for the haste voting.. |

| I just logged on to check my score and was slightly shocked to see it at 5.2 Then I clicked the update button and found a 6.5 much better... |

this is so disheartening from an opening vote of 7 then 6's to now it wouldnt even get on my profile page

Is this normal???
I have never had my score drop so drasticly so quickly before. From 6.2 down to 5.7 in only 12 votes.

Well, it's not hard to see why if you look at the average score given of the folks who are currently online. One troll errr person has an average of 3.9

Thanks for trying to make me feel better. I checked the score and now I even feel worse but thats not your fault. I suck as a photographer but have just renewed my subscription. I think in future I'll do the voting and not photographing!!Originally posted by PhotoInterest:

Oh, please, please, please...do NOT judge your work by basing it on the scores in here! There are a number of people in here who are professional photographers and cannot make a decent score in these challenges! There are a lot of reasons why shots don't do well in DPC. People who do well in here, don't necessarily do well elsewhere. The revers then, is also true. By all means...try other markets or venues for your photography but, NEVER give up on your work (which is wonderful btw after looking at your portfolio) based on the scores in this site!! Heaven knows I'd be throwing my cameras out if I based much on the challenges in here and the scores. There's a lot of different dynamics that come into play and sometimes it has nothing to do with photography. :) |

No kidding! I'm hovering on the edge of 5 just now, and I know while I'm no still life expert by a long way, that is remarkably low!
One of two things are happening here, either I've missed the point of still life despite looking up a number of definitions, or the voters are taking still life to be a very specific (pastel, muted tones, painting like I'm guessing) subject and voting low on everything that doesn't exactly meet their specifications.
Either way, not worth worrying about, I've lost interest in this score already, now need to get my shot done for "Main Street"! |

Malecowdroppings.... I was so confident that I would score another 6 without using my dog again, at least when I took the photos, but I kinda knew when I opened edited and submitted them that I would only be disapointed. |

| I am happy with my score so far, But I am also waiting for the cranky Monday Morning voters to log onto DPC and take the frustrations of the Monday Blues out on us. Fingers crossed they will not be too hard on us. |

surprisingly enough, most of the time Monday voters are quite nice and Friday voters stink. I can't understand why--people should be so much happier on fridays! |
