Interesting article:

18th century snowflake photo's for sale in NY

Items of interest include how-to photograph snowflakes: Jerry rigging a microscope to a bellows camera.

Anyway, thought it was niteresting and wanted to share.

Yes, he is interesting. I first learned about Snowflake Bentley from my kids checking out a kid's book by the same name. Tis amazing what spectacular crystal clear pictures he captured with the technology of the time. His photos really show off the patterns a snowflake can take on beautifully.

Bentley was truly a pioneer. he achieved some amazing images, given what he had at his disposal.
For those interested in photographing snowflakes, here is a Caltech website dedicated to the pursuit. It's intensely interesting, and presents some great ideas for capturing snowflakes. Also some beautiful images.
