Just use the codec pack posed at the beginning of this thread and there wont be an issue, YES even for the 40D, 50D, 7D and the 5DMKII...

Even when using the preview with the codec installed, I believe the preview is using an embedded low res preview inside the RAW. DPP can certainly be used, but quick previewing of images is not a strong suit of it, imo. There is a convenience and speed to previewing them with the built in image viewer and flipping through them with the cursor keys. |

| If you download Picasa, you can just click on raw files to look at them, instead of having to open it up photoshop. It's useful and Picasa is free. |
