Folks, it is with a heavy heart that I pass along some sad news - Sara's Mum passed away a few days ago.

I'm sorry to say that I can completely empathize -- my dad died last Thursday after a series of falls and infections which had him either in the hospital or convalescent care since Thanksgiving. He'd been deteriorating mentally for a few months, and his quality of life was at a pretty low point, so it was not that much of a surprise, and all in all it seems better than lingering on to suffer.

Took this when Isaac and I were visiting this past August.

Hugs to you and yours, Paul. He looks to have been a very distinguished and kind gentleman.

p.s. I'm slowly getting to your Paul Simon entries, folks. Got a slowish connection. Rest will be done tomorrow hopefully! And for shame those of you who didn't listen to the songs.... :-)

Haha whoopsie! I like the song Kodachrome but not really anything else. I saw him on an old episode of SNL one time if that counts for anything.

I'm sorry for your loss too Paul. January is a terrible month for people who already have health issues going on. I lost my grandmother last January.

Condolences, Paul and Sara. It's only my own experience that I have to go on, but there's something with parents - the whole world changes when they die. Anyway - thoughts are with you...

Well I was coming on to report some good news but that will have to wait for now as two of our fellow team suckers have had losses in their lives and I feel it's more important to pass along my condolences to them and let them know that I am thinking of them.

I wish you and your families all the best in your times of need Sara and Paul. I have lost both my parents and I understand that value our parents have in our lives.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.

Max, Janet-Lynne, Caleb, and Isaac Durnford.

I'm so sorry, Sara and Paul. In 6 days it will be two years since my father died, and it still has me in tears as I type this. Give yourself lots of time and patience. It takes longer than you think to be able to deal with it. And to echo Max, my thoughts and prayers are also with you and your families.

It's a lovely image.

My condolences Paul & Sara.

Cherish their memories that they will live on in your hearts.

As I look up at my Mom's camera sitting on top of the computer tower, she is still with me though she's been gone 34 years.

I do use a "huey" on my monitor, but I didn't take into account that not everybody does.
It is fairly dark on mine, but not dark enough to be lacking much detail.

Or maybe I'm just imagining in more light than is truly there, that's always a possibility too !!

btw, I too think it's a beautiful image, but I do think it's too dark (so according to Bear, it is too dark since I think so...) I voted pretty much the same way that Art did, according to his comment. I gave it a 6 because it was wonderful. Had it been tad lighter and still had the dutch master feel, it could have gone up to a 9.

Sara and Paul, I'm so truly sorry that you have suffered a loss. Please try to remember the good times, of which I am sure there were many.

*hanging head in shame* ...but at least I read the lyrics! Get to the comments when you can, Deb, we all know you're a little busy right now.

I'm not sure what you mean by this exactly, but I've listed to The Sounds of Silence for years......and for a while my tagline was:

"I got a Nikon camera, I love to take a photograph"

But then, you have a Canon, so......
01/13/2010 06:56:19 AM · #1947
LOL Jeb! A few of our own did note in their entries that they didn't know the song or the artist... kids these days! And if you read my comments on mine, the "friend" I mentioned was Robert, and it never dawned on me that he wouldn't know the song because, duh - he didn't listen to Paul Simon either, even though he's the right generation. Sometimes I be a bit slow....

As for signature style - I'm muddling along nicely at a dead-even 5.5000 which is completely meaningless as I have two comments with one giving an 8, another a 10, AND a fav from xion so I hereby declare complete success! No one has guessed me yet, but I'm good with that. It's not a pigeon, which makes it kinda tough... :-)

I was funnier last night before I went to bed. I made it all the way up to 5.9, now... 5.1
